Naman Mathur (Hindi: नमन माथुर; born: May 22, 1996 (1996-05-22) [age 29]), better known online as MortaL, is an Indian gaming YouTuber who primarily uploads battle royale videos on YouTube, formerly streaming the video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. He is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate and currently resides in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

YouTube Career[]

Beginning[]

Naman Mathur was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was interested in playing video games on his personal computer since his teenage years. He used to play international PC video games such as Dangerous Dave, Super Mario, Contra, GTA: San Andreas, Counter-Strike and Mini Militia. It was his Mini Militia series that kickstarted his YouTube career.

During the beginning of his gaming career, he was often criticized by his family who told him that he should quit and focus on studies, not games. Regardless, he took everything lightly since he was studying B. Com. (Bachelor Of Commerce) which he wasn't the fondest of. He was all to himself and wanted to take gaming as a career.

In one of his videos, he was playing SQUAD on PUBG. As they were traveling on a vehicle, another enemy squad knocked all his teammates out. MortaL got out of the vehicle and killed all the enemies out by shooting them one by one. This video went viral, which was the time he realized that he was really good at gaming. Naman is now an established gaming YouTuber.

PUBG[]

On September 2, 2020, PUBG was restricted in India. The very next day on September 3, he uploaded his last live-stream of the game while on September 4, the game's server was shut down and made unavailable to its players. MortaL declared that he was unsure of what he was going to stream next, but his focus gradually changed to Call of Duty: Mobile, and after the release of Battlegrounds Mobile India (a local spinoff of PUBG), it became the primary game streamed on the channel.

Yet again when the spinoff was temporarily banned in India due to a government order,[1] the battle royale content came to be dominated by VALORANT, with other singleplayer games like Subnautica: Below Zero and Minecraft also streamed.

PMIS[]

In 2019, The Soul MortaL Team participated in the PMIS (PUBG Mobile Indian Series 2019) and won the national tournament by scoring 46 kills along with 2520 game points, with a prize of ₹30,00,000. Their PUBG Squad also won PUBG Mobile Regionals, 2019 with 254 Points, winning the first prize of $60,000.
