My Little Pony Official

My Little Pony Official is the official YouTube channel for the My Little Pony media franchise, though it is mainly focused on the American-Canadian animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It is owned by Hasbro.^[1] They also have other channels catered to other MLP shows, like Equestria Girls and Tell Your Tale.^[2]^[3]

Most international channels are inactive as of November 2024.

Content[]

The channel's first video was uploaded in 2011, and it was a Friendship is Magic episode clip parodying the song "California Gurls" by Katy Perry.^[4] The channel also featured songs from the show, and uploaded trailers of upcoming MLP related projects such as Equestria Girls.^[5] Some of their promotional content and trailers are in foreign languages such as Spanish, German, French, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Finnish, Korean and Dutch,^[6]^[7]^[8]^[9]^[10]^[11]^[12]^[13]^[14] this may be to appeal to wider audience. Even the promotional video for their mobile game is in French for whatever reason.^[15]

Even though primarily of its content is about G4, and will post clips relating the older MLP generations as well.^[16] It also posts things that are region locked - for example, on November 18, 2014 they uploaded an exlcusive music video of Rainbow Rocks which was only available initially to Polish audiences who bought a Blu-ray, however it is entirely in Polish.^[17] It also has an advertisement that was only for Australian audiences,^[18] and recaps and toy advertisements only broadcast to US audiences.^[19]^[20] It also posted trailers for the upcoming movie of the next generation.^[21]

In 2016, the channel began a series called My Little Pony Minis, a 3D animated series of shorts regarding the characters from the MLP show doing random things.^[22] New episodes from Generation 4.5, called Pony Life, are also uploaded there.^[23]

Trivia[]

It is unusual that this channel posts Russian dubbed content, as there is already a Russian branch for MLP.^[24]
