Neuro-sama (birthday: December 19th)^{[citation needed]} is an English^{[citation needed]} independent VTuber. She is primarily active on Twitch.

Unlike the vast majority of VTubers, Neuro-sama is not portrayed by a human using a virtual avatar generated using computer graphics. She is controlled by Artificial Intelligence (AI), that uses various algorithms and programs to create a persona of a streamer who is always learning. When interacting with viewers, said AI reads their message and generates a response.

Neuro-sama's creator is video game developer Vedal / vedal987, who is often portrayed as a talking turtle.

Content

Neuro-sama was originally developed to counter the difficulties of rhythm game osu!. Due to the VTuber boom in 2020 thanks to hololive's first wave of English-speaking VTubers, the developers of the AI decided to join in and have her debut as a VTuber.

On Twitch, she will try to attempt other difficult games, sing songs, or host chatting streams. Occasionally she'll do chatting streams following a certain theme where she'll talk like a pirate or cowboy throughout the stream.

Neuro also has a "twin sister" named Evil Neuro, often called Evil for short. Evil Neuro wears black clothing and has red eyes. Her personality is much more unstable and edgy than Neuro's, and she will frequently berate and insult her viewers as well as her collab partners. Her language filter is also more relaxed than Neuro's, allowing her to use profanity. She has been known to scream without warning. Evil Neuro may stream either by herself or alongside "regular" Neuro.^{[citation needed]}

Collaborations

On February 2, 2023, camila tweeted that she had scheduled a collaboration with Neuro-sama.

On February 16, 2023, filian hosted a game show where Nekrolina, LaynaLazar, Lumi Kaneko, Bao The Whale, Miilkywayz, Elly, Hinabobina, Neuro-sama, Aroma Great and Saruei competed for Shylily's heart.

Others Neuro-sama has collaborated with include Numi, Aletta Sky, and Lia. In April 2023, she collaborated with Kiara Takanashi.

Design

Her original model was created and rigged by Kanii Bimu. It is a copyright-free character named Momose Hiyori.

Her current model was designed by Anny.

Controversy

Holocaust denial and bigotry

In one stream, Neuro-sama was asked if she believed in the Holocaust, and she replied that she was not sure if she believed it. Apart from denying the Holocaust she has also made homophobic statements.

Because of this, Vedal, the developer of Neuro-sama, added a filter to ensure that an incident like this wouldn't happen again.

However, she would continue to make bigoted and offensive remarks, and in January 2023, she was temporarily suspended from Twitch.
