Brady Haran, better known online as Numberphile, is an educational YouTube channel that features videos that explore through numbers and various mathematical topics.

Content[]

With the channel starting on September 15, 2011, each of his videos focused on a specific number, but as the channel got older, more videos were uploaded, and such videos explored more advanced mathematical concepts. The videos on the channel feature several university professors, math communicators, and famous mathematicians.

301 views Easter egg[]

On June 22, 2012, Numberphile uploaded a video titled "Why do YouTube views freeze at 301?". In this video, there is an explanation as to why the 301+ views glitch occurred on certain videos. Despite this glitch being fixed in August 2015, this very video was an exception, because YouTube exceptionally and purposefully kept the view count of this video stuck at 301 views, despite this video having more than a million likes as on January 2021, and its actual video viewcount is 15.1 million.

Trivia[]

  • In 2018, Haran released a spin-off audio podcast titled The Numberphile Podcast.
  • This channel is supported by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and Math for America.
  • Haran also runs the "Numberphile2" channel, which includes extra footage and further detail than the main channel.
  • This channel is considered a sister channel to Computerphile.
