Old Minecraft Reuploads is a YouTube channel that hosts a series of unreleased footage of early Minecraft gameplay clips from a player.

Videos[]

The channel was created on March 5, 2021. Just a day later, the first video, "minecraft base tour," was released. Based on the description, the video is the subject of a file dated September 29, 2010. The player describes the video as a "base" that they built when they first started playing, and they thought it looked bad when looking back at it. The video starts off innocently enough, showing the player walking around in the fields of their world before entering the base to show it off to the viewers. Towards the end of the video, things start to get strange. As they walk around outside again for a bit and then focuses on the tunnel to their cave system, the video suddenly cuts to a black background, where the player's stats are changed to show no items in the inventory and at only half a heart. Shortly after that, the player enters the cave and, just before the screen cuts to black, a pair of legs flash across the screen, indicating that someone (or something) else is in the player's world.

The second video, "the tnt pwner," taking place a week before the first on September 22, 2010,[1] seems more out of place. It is a montage of the same player from the last video aggressively killing a bunch of mobs with TNT. Throughout the video, unsettling and questionable text (as written by the player) are displayed.

In the third video, on September 26, 2010, the player explores some "really cool caves."[2] It seems normal until the appearance of a silhouette of a figure in the background, as well as the sound of a breathing sound effect that was later revealed to be an unreleased sound that never made it into the final game.

The day before Halloween of 2010, the player was recording their session of exploring the game's "secret tutorial level world."[3] In this video's description, the player introduces a brand-new character, a fellow player only known by his username LegendofAnthony721, or simply Anthony, who helped the player to access the tutorial level.

In the fifth video, "other", the player's identity is finally revealed, by the username goldenmario982, or simply Mario.[4] The video shows Mario having a message conversation with Anthony on September 14, 2010 about a crypted topic while wandering around in his world.

"Minecraft Castle Construction" from November 3, 2010,[5] is the first video from Anthony's perspective, whereas he is initially showing off the progress of his castle build. However, he gets distracted by a large cave nearby and decides to explore that area instead. At one point, while Anthony's game is paused, a mist rolls in, and his character is stalked by a shadowy figure, similar to the one seen in Mario's cave video. Anthony ventures through the cave, and fights off mobs, discovering a man-made tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, he finds a deep hole. While looking down the hole, he is pushed into it by an unseen force. He falls all the way down to the bottom, taking life-threatening damage. Anthony escapes the cave and seals it off, not wanting to go back down there again, and then he hides in a corner of his castle before getting off the game.

The seventh video, "for anthony," picks up two days after "Castle Construction," where, upon Mario investigates what Anthony found in his world, with Anthony having asked him to do so.[6] Mario enters the cave and finds himself in a labyrinth maze of tunnels, with some mobs to fight along the way. The floors of the cave are covered with deep holes with no visible bottom. The strangest occurrence is at the end of the video where an unseen force breaks one of Mario's torches.

A prequel to "other," called "other2," takes place on an unspecified date, though likely set before the events of the first "other."[7] Mario is exploring a cave similar to the one in the third video, perhaps even the exact same one, when he is suddenly transported to an unfamiliar area, a large, open-roof stone wall room that they walk along, eventually running into a fence wall. After a few seconds of observing the wall, a black shape appears to approach Mario before the video cuts to black. Right before the video ends, gibberish text is displayed, which is translated to "you never really were the nicest person, anthony. quit lying to yourself."

The last video to date, "Minecraft beta 1.1 Mob grinder" seems like a follow-up to "the tnt pwner."[8] We see Mario making a lot of TNT and using it to kill a bunch of mobs at a time in their obsidian-built trap. Later, Mario is seen to be in a cave, getting nervous when hearing cave noises. Outside, he finds feathers, leather, and raw pork scattered around his house with no explanation as to how they got there. Mario then goes into his house and travels through his dug-up mineshaft via minecart. When he reaches the end other end, he enters a safe room, where there is a staircase seemingly leading to the surface. The path to the stairs is suddenly walled up, making Mario freak out to the point where he hops back on the minecart to head back to his base, and the video ends there.

Trivia[]

  • The channel's most recent video, "Minecraft beta 1.1 Mob grinder," is the most popular at over 170,000 views.[9]
  • "Mario's" videos were covered in an analytical video by Wifies, similarly to TheNick56. It is possible that the occurrences seen on both channels are connected, but there is currently no evidence to support it.[10]
  • "the tnt pwner" is accompanied by the song "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin.[11]
