―Parody Gaming's intro

What's up, losers! This is Presidents Play Wordle!

―Intro to Wordle episode 1.

Parody Gaming is a British[1] YouTuber that creates gaming videos that utilize AI-generated voices of U.S. presidents, specifically Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. However, they have also used Joe Rogan to serve as a guest character once.

The channel is best known for its series on the New York Times game Wordle, but they have also played other games, such as GeoGuessr and Google Feud as well.

Channel History[]

The Parody Gaming channel was created on February 4, 2022.[1] Then they started uploading videos on March 9, 2023.[2] In the early stages of their career, they would upload Only Up content, which is a playthrough of the game with three parts. Later on, however, they would switch to their most famous game, Wordle as well as branch out to other games such as Google Feud.

Parody Gaming also occasionally posts Shorts. Their Shorts are usually short snippets from their Wordle episodes, but one in particular is a parody of the "Unethical Life Hacks" meme.[3] Their first YouTube Short was uploaded on July 6, 2023.

Videos[]

Parody Gaming primarily posts videos about the New York Times mini game Wordle, primarily about "custom Wordle" where the three put in custom prompts, however those custom prompts are usually only to annoy a president or another. They have played a variety of games, but Wordle is their most popular and most prominent game.

Only Up![]

Only Up is the first series. It has three episodes and one compilation. In this series, the three presidents take turns to attempt to reach the top of Only Up, which is also the game's end goal. This series involved lots of rage within the game, as when each president fell a large distance or to the bottom, they would usually scream or curse another president in pure fury.

Wordle[]

Wordle is the second series. It is also the longest series, tallying at 15 episodes, including an animated episode for Episode 14[4], and several compilations. At first, they played regular Wordle using randomly generated words to guess. However, they would then shift to "Custom Wordle" where the Presidents would take turns to put in a prompt for Wordle, and the other two would attempt to guess what the word is. Much of the time, the prompt is usually made to annoy one of the guessing Presidents, or both, such as Trump typing in "Bomb" or a variant of bomb, such as "Bmob"[5][sic] to deliberately annoy Obama.

Call of Duty Zombies[]

Call of Duty Zombies is the third series. It is tied with "Not Wordle" for the shortest series, tallying at two episodes. The first video features a Five Nights at Freddy's themed map[6], and the second episode features a Minecraft themed map.[7]

GeoGuessr[]

GeoGuessr is the fourth series. It has three episodes and one compilation. One of the episodes features a competition for a McDonald's gift card.[citation needed]

Google Feud[]

Google Feud is the fifth series. It has four episodes and one compilation. Episodes three and four feature a competition between Trump and Biden for "Trump's one million dollars," to which Trump won with 52,000 points, beating Biden's 42,000 points. Episode three and four feature Biden's turn and Trump's turn respectively.[8][9]

Not Wordle[]

Not Wordle is the sixth series. It has four episodes and one compilation. This series features various Wordle spinoffs.

Characters[]

Much like other President YouTubers, Parody Gaming primarily features these three presidents as its main characters.

Barack Obama[]

Obama is depicted, by Parody Gaming as the "voice of reason" character. He is the most sensible of the three presidents, seeing as he warns Trump not to type anything offensive into the Wordle guessing bar, and often gets angry if either Trump makes an offensive joke, of if either Trump or Biden make a foolish and unwise guess. His speech is indicated by green text.

Donald Trump[]

Trump is depicted as the offensive "bully" character. An old running joke on the channel is him typing the word "Bomb" in the Wordle guessing bar, or at least pretending to, and claiming that the answer is definitely Bomb, much to Obama's annoyance especially if there are letters used in the word "bomb" that are greyed out. Similar jokes appear similar to this one appear throughout the series as well, but with other words and phrases Obama considers to be "offensive."

Another old running joke by Trump is him attempting to persuade either Obama and/or Biden that Wordle attempts to play tricks on the player's mind, despite the game's simplicity.

He is often considered by Parody Gaming fans to be their favourite character, due to his offensive jokes and him throwing jabs to bully Biden bringing the "humor" to the channel's videos. His speech is indicated by yellow text.

Joe Biden[]

Biden is depicted as the "weird" or otherwise "unwise" character. A running joke on the channel is him persistently forgetting many things due to dementia. He also hold many contradictory beliefs to himself, such as considering ice a food or calling eggs animals. He is also stated to do "eccentric" activities, such as freezing fingernails before gnawing on them as a snack. However none of these pertain to the real president.

However, the most aspect of him is his nicknames. He frequently uses the nickname "Obama Rama" for Obama, "Trumpy Rumpy" for Trump, and in Wordle episode 11 he used "Rogan Hogan" for Joe Rogan. His speech is indicated by white text.

Joe Rogan[]

Joe Rogan is a character that only ever appears in Wordle Episode 11.[10] He is depicted as, in-universe, Biden's favorite person and best friend. He is shown to be the only person to be able to stand up to Trump's bully attempts. His speech is indicated by red text.

Trivia[]

  • The channel's popularity is mainly due to the time period where the videos were uploaded, and inspirations from similar channels such as Presidents Play.
  • Interestingly, the channel has posted two "Ultimate Compilation" videos.[11][12]
