History[]

Tennant and Lowe met in a hi-fi shop on Kings Road in Chelsea, London, England, United Kingdom.[1] Tennant had purchased a Korg MS-10 synthesizer, which sparked a conversation with Lowe. After discovering that they had a mutual interest in electronic and disco music, they became friends.[1][2] In 1983,[3] they released their debut single West End Girls, and in 1984, they released it. It did not receive much traction at first, however, it was rerecorded in August 1985[4] and released on October 28, 1985.[citation needed]
