Piper Rockelle Smith (born: August 21, 2007 (2007-08-21) [age 17]) is an American singer, dancer and YouTuber known for her prank videos, challenges and music videos.

Personal life[]

Piper was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised by her mother, Tiffany. Regarding her father, she had only met him once in her childhood and didn't remember him being around for the family. As for her siblings, Piper has two brothers named Tyler Ray Hill and Hunter Ray Hill, the latter being the editor and cameraman who often helps edits her videos. Piper and her mom had rescued over 100 cats in Georgia and had 17 cats living with them.

In March of 2022, she announced that her mom was pregnant and that she was going to be a big sister.

In summer of 2022, she announced that her mom sadly miscarried the baby and was expected to have a girl.

Dating[]

In 2019, Rockelle started dating fellow YouTuber Gavin Magnus. In July 2019, Piper and Gavin broke up after a fight broke out of camera. Magnus proceeded to say in an interview that it wasn't Piper's fault but rather her mother for making a toxic environment around them. The two have seemingly reconciled and are now making videos together daily, even making music videos together.

In February 2020, it was speculated that she and Lev Cameron were dating as he asked her out for Valentine's. In May 2020, it was officially announced that the couple began dating. Around mid-March of 2024, they broke up.

Content[]

Piper began her YouTube channel on November 29, 2016, performing pranks on her squad members. She is also known for her music videos.

In 2022, her YouTube channel got demonetized after a list of abuse allegations had been filed against Rockelle's mother. She was also removed from the platform's Partner Program.

The Squad[]

Piper Rockelle's Squad is the name for her group of friends, all influencers themselves. To date, her Squad members are: Piper Rockelle, Lev Cameron, Jentzen Ramirez, Elliana Walmsley, Emily Dobson, and Jenna Davis as of 2024 they left. The squad was formed and founded by Piper and her former best friend Sophie Fergi who had left because of incidents behind-the-scenes, which was later revealed out to the internet and social media by Sophie Fergi in her youtube channel.

Controversy[]

Allegations of abuse and exploitation[]

Beginning in 2021, there have been allegations of financial exploitation against Tiffany. On August 30, 2021, American singer-songwriter Pink, on Twitter, alleged that Piper was being exploited by her mom after photos of her wearing a bikini surfaced on her official Instagram account. Piper and her mother denied Pink's allegation in a statement to Insider, saying that Piper wearing a bikini whilst underage was not sexual unless you "view us that way". Pink's statement received mixed reactions, but most of the replies on Twitter were supportive of Pink.[1]

On January 15, 2022, in an article by Insider, eleven former members of the Piper Squad and their parents sued Tiffany and Hunter Hill, her boyfriend, for allegations of abuse and exploitation, such as not paying them after video appearances, remarking sexually explicit comments, and sabotaging their individual YouTube channels after they ceased to collaborate with Piper. In the lawsuit, they described Tiffany as a "mean-spirited control freak" whose treatment towards them is "not only sexually inappropriate and confrontational but often reprehensible and even illegal".[2] A week after the lawsuit was filed, Piper posted a video on YouTube where she said goodbye to her mother as she moved to Georgia to focus on her family.[3] As a response, on February 10, 2022, Piper's channel got indefinitely demonetized and she was removed from the platform's Partner Program. [4] Tiffany and Hunter denied all wrongdoing as stated in court papers, and in July 2022, Piper and Tiffany countersued the parents, seeking $30 million using the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (or the RICO Act, that is most often used against mobs or other organized-crime entities) for extortion and fabricating of allegations. [5] Six of the former Piper Squad members, with approval from their parents, were interviewed by Lisa Guerrero of Inside Edition on February 22, 2023, where they explained their experiences working for Piper and Tiffany. Ultimately, they agreed that Piper was a victim of Tiffany's wrong actions. With this interview, the issue went mainstream. A court trial for the lawsuit by the former Piper Squad members is set for Fall 2023.[6][7]
