Not to be confused with the American comedy YouTuber Polygon Donut.
Polygon is an American[1] website that mainly covers gaming news, reviews, and guides.[2]
History[3][]
Polygon started out with an idea back in 2011. Jim Bankoff, CEO of Vox, talked about starting a new site to Christopher Grant; however, Christopher opposed the idea of creating a new site, believing it shouldn't exist. The Verge later changed Christopher's mind, and he returned to Bankoff and Vox with a pitch. In 2012, Christopher left Joystiq to found Polygon and created a staff team of 16 editors and reporters for the site with the help of Brian Crecente and Russ Pitts.
Channel[]
Polygon created their channel on February 22, 2006,[1] and uploaded their first video on April 6, 2012. It was a remix of Mass Effect made by reverse engineers.[4] The channel's next video showcased a trailer for Polygon, which replaced Vox Games.[5] In 2012, the channel started livestreaming.[6] In 2017, Polygon started a podcast titled "The History of Fun."[7] The podcast ended with five episodes, with the last one posted on March 23, 2018.[8] On May 8, 2018, Polygon uploaded their most popular video. It gained over 15 million views.[9]
Content[]
Polygon mainly posts video game-related videos. They have covered video games, including Avowed,[10] Hitman,[11] Monster Hunter Wilds,[12] Solitaire,[13] and Lorn's Lure.[14] On occasion, they post short-form videos.[15] Polygon hosts different series on their channel, such as "What's Up With That?,"[16] "Video Games, Explained,"[17] and "Polygon Guides."[18]
