RDCWorld1 is an American YouTube channel based in Texas created in 2011 by Marcus "Mark" Vincent Phillips Jr. (born: September 16, 1994 (1994-09-16) [age 30]) and Affiong "Aff" Harris (born: June 8, 1995 (1995-06-08) [age 29]). The channel is dedicated their friends making comedic videos that often satirize off pop culture or other subject matter.

Content[]

Mark's first videos were about cartoons like Adventure Time, as well as him ranting about various things, like college. However he gained fame after a clip from his video went viral on Instagram[1][2][3], titled "When People Take Anime Too Far (Full Version ORIGINAL CREATORS) SupremeDreams_1".[4] A lot of his content is dedicated to fandoms of anime and gaming, as well as comedy and skits based on real life.[5][6] Sometimes, he'll also make videos about if black people were the cast in horror movies and Squid Game. He also makes videos about American pop culture and social issues, but they're all presented in a humorous way.[7][8]

The Black Avengers[]

The Black Avengers is a parody series created in 2015 based on the Avengers franchise. It follows the members of the Avengers getting in conflicts with multiple villains and with themselves. The third episode, called Infinity War parodies the third Avengers movie of the same name, which involves multiple Marvel characters and Thanos invading Earth. The series ended with three episodes.[9]

Video Game House[]

Video Game House is a comedy series created in 2016 which is stylized as a TV reality show, having popular video game characters, such as Mario, Master Chief, Sonic, and others living in a house together. It mainly involves multiple jokes involving the characters quirks and mechanics involved within daily life. The series currently ongoing, with five episodes in the series.[10]

Hood Avatar[]

Hood Avatar is a action series created in 2016. The series follows Mark, a person who is destined to use abilities of the hood, who has to restore balance to his hood and friends from Desmond and the shooting nation. The show is meant to be a parody of the animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series is currently ongoing, with three episodes and an additional part.[11]

Anime House[]

Anime House is a spin off series of the Video Game House, instead housing popular Shonen anime characters in real life and hate living with each other, such as Goku, Light, Naruto, etc. However, the series also has over-arcing sub plots and action senses. The series was created in 2019, currently having five episodes.[12]

Collaborations[]

RDCworld1 have a reality tv/skit show sponsored by House of Highlights[13]. RDCWorld1's fans include basketballer LeBron James, and when they met in real life he hugged them, and rapper J Cole called their videos really funny[14].

One of the co-founders of the RDCWorld YouTube channel, he hails from Texas, United States where he attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in integrative studies in May of 2017. He is the writer, director and executive producer. He's sometimes nicknamed Jay.

Affiong "Aff" Harris[]

One of the other co-founders of the RDCWorld YouTube channel, Affiong occasionally provides voice overs for Mark's videos. He is the team's Director of production, post production, cinematographer and is in charge of visual effects. His favorite artist is Childish Gambino. He is on Instagram and Twitter.[15][16] He sometimes uploads animations to the channel and produces music on his personal YouTube channel.[17] He is of Jamaican descent.

Leland Manigo[]

Born: October 16, 1995 (1995-10-16) [age 29], he is Mark's cousin and frequently appears in his skits. He collects old video games and his dream is to work for SEGA and revive the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He is the team's Brand/Design Manager and does their sourcing/fulfillment. His favorite artist is Drake. He has an account on Twitter and Instagram.[18][19]

Desmond "Des" Johnson[]

Born: May 10, 1994 (1994-05-10) [age 30], in Waco, Texas, he attended the same university as Mark but they met in middle school where the two became good friends and decided to collaborate on his channel. He likes playing soccer and dreams of opening his own soccer complex. He is the Special Effects Coordinator and Drone Operator of the team. He has an Instagram and Twitter.[20][21] He is also a fan of video games and anime. His favorite artist is Big Sean and his favorite team is Manchester United. His favorite food is ribs.

Benjamin "Ben" Skinner[]

Born: September 13, 1993 (1993-09-13) [age 31], the fifth member of the team and their production sound mixer, responsible for budget/finance manager of ad sales/relations and the costume/wardrobe supervisor, Ben dreams of being a real music producer. His favorite musician is Kid Cudi and his favorite food is pizza. He is the tallest member of the team, at 6'3. He has an Instagram and Twitter.[22][23]

Dylan "Dyl" Patel[]

Born: May 1, 1996 (1996-05-01) [age 28], he is the gaming director and visual effects manager for the crew but made his debut in Black Avengers. His favorite musical artist is Nas and his favorite athlete is Lebron James. He has a Twitter and Instagram.[24][25] He is from Austin, Texas, United States. Of all the members, Dylan is the only one who isn't of African American descent, being Indian.

Johnathan "John" Newton[]

Born: November 30, The latest addition to the team and their Dream Con Event Coordinator and their manager of Outreach/Consumer Engagement and Behind the Scenes Content, John's favorite food are nachos and his favorite artist is Tupac. He has a Twitter and Instagram.[26][27]

In 2017, RDCWorld created an annual convention called Dream Con, which celebrates gaming, anime, cosplay, etc. The convention provides panels, meet and greets, gaming tournaments, an art alley, etc. Mark has said that it was meant to bring average and avid fans together and share common interests with one another. Dream Con has become popular within the cosplay and anime conventions, mainly being hosted within Texas.
