Ryan Krzak[1] (born: June 5, 1988 (1988-06-05) [age 37]),[2] better known online as RWappin, is an American YouTube animator, illustrator, and director known for his various animated skits, music videos, and contributions to television shows and video games. He gained significant recognition for his fan-made animations of "Weird Al" Yankovic songs, which eventually led to official collaborations.

Content[]

The content on Ryan's YouTube channel mainly consists of animated skits and animated music videos, often characterized by a distinctive, fluid style. He began animating using Adobe Flash (now Adobe Animate). While his YouTube channel showcases some of his most popular work, he is also very active on Newgrounds and shares updates and other content on Twitter.

History[]

Ryan began teaching himself Adobe Flash in February 2006 and joined Newgrounds in January 2006. He uploaded his first animation, a "Weird Al" fan animation, there in October 2006.[3] He created his YouTube channel on October 12, 2006, but primarily used Newgrounds for his early work. He attended Columbia College Chicago, graduating in 2010.[citation needed]

He didn't upload to YouTube until October 7, 2011, when he posted his 2007 Newgrounds animation for "Everything You Know Is Wrong" by "Weird Al" Yankovic.[4] He followed this with his 2006 Newgrounds animation for "Albuquerque", which became his most-viewed YouTube video. These videos featured an original character, often called "Miracle Machine", designed by Ryan. In Ryan's Discord Server, he said that Miracle Machine's Middle Name is Universe.[5]

His fan animations caught the attention of "Weird Al" Yankovic, leading to an official commission. In 2024, Ryan directed and animated the "Uptown Funk" segment for Yankovic's "Polkamania!" music video, featuring the same "Miracle Machine" character.[6][7]

Beyond his personal projects and "Weird Al" collaborations, Ryan works as a freelance animator and illustrator. He has contributed to:[citation needed]

  • Television: Smiling Friends (Animator/Animation Assistant), Pencilmation (Animator/Lead Animator), Bushworld Adventures (Animation Coordinator), DBX, Infrequently Asked Questions.
  • Video Games: Sonic Mania (Clean-up Animation), Super Meat Boy Forever (Cutscenes), Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine (Cutscenes), River City Girls (Clean-up Animation), Full Throttle: Remastered (Animation), Indivisible (Animation).
  • Books: Illustrated The Mouse in the Lemon Tree (2017).

Ryan is also developing his own independent project called "End Times", described as a story exploring spirituality and the afterlife. He is currently releasing it in the form of comics and books, with aspirations to turn it into an animated show.[8][9] He also participated in the "Steamed Hams" animation collaboration.[10]
