History[]

The company was founded in 1984 by Dietrich Mateschitz, who was German; and Chaleo Yoovidhya, who was Thai. Dietrich, who worked for the German company Blendax, travelled to Thailand and met Chaleo, who developed the Krating Daeng energy drink, which is now on the market. The market potential of the drink made Dieter start working with Chaleo, who went to Europe. Between 1984 and 1987, Red Bull modified the Krating Daeng drink to make it less sweet and more carbonated to suit European tastes. The first Red Bull drink was introduced in Austria, which was a huge success with young professionals. Red Bull entered the European market in the early 1990s and the US market in 1997. Red Bull is the most consumed energy drink worldwide.
