RobinKaja (born: June 26, 1993) is a Danish YouTube channel created and operated by Robin Madsen, who is also the co-owner of the YouTube Channel RobinSamse.
The RobinKaja channel is Robin's personal channel, opposed to the RobinSamse channel he shares with his girlfriend Samrita Kaur. The name RobinKaja refers to him, Robin, and his little sister, Kaja, as he created the channel with her. Kaja now also has a personal account called Kaja.
History[]
At the start of his channel, Robin would mainly post videos related to computers and technology, such as a tutorial for the scripting language PHP or an unboxing of the Xbox 360. He has regularly described himself as being a nerd. He would not show his face until later on. In 2010 the channel also began containing a lot of vlogs, and in 2011 ''ASK ME'' videos were being made where Robin would answer viewers' questions.[1] Another series on the channel called Postboksen was started in 2012, where Robin would open packages from his viewers.[2] In December of 2010 he reached 10k subscribers.[3]
Another popular series of his was him playing Minecraft with the modpack ''Tekkit'', with the first video of the series being posted in 2013.[4]
Banana[]
On October 31, 2011, Robin responded to a question asking whether he liked banana. Robin, not knowing whether it was about male genitalia or about the fruit, answered no and clarified that he did not like either of the two. The video became an inside joke in the channels fanbase.
A remix of the video was posted on April 20, 2013, and it gained more views than the original video.[5]
Currently[]
As of 2022, He has continued to make gaming videos, and has also made a series called ''Lort fra internettet'' (In English; Crap from the internet) where he reviews random products found on the internet.[6] He also regularly posts videos where he states his opinion on stuff such as copyright laws, law changes in general, changes to YouTube and more.
He has on a few occasions reacted to his old videos on RobinKaja, sometimes by himself, and other times with Samrita and Lasse Vestergaard.
Controversies[]
Transphobia[]
In February 2021, people started criticizing Robin after discovering Discord messages he wrote about a song from MGP, a Danish song contest for kids, where the song included the line ''It is completely okay to be gay''.[7] The messages included Robin saying ''You're not a snowflake who's one of the fifty thousand genders? Well then you are actually wrong'', ''But now? Its almost wrong to be straight now'' and ''There is nothing cool in saying ''Its okay to be gay'' and so on anymore''. (Translated from Danish to English).[8]
An old live-stream of Robin along with Samrita also resurfaced, where the two were asked what they thought about the LGBT+ community. Their response was considered by a lot of people users to be offensive, such as Robin saying that the LGBT+ term was connected to a lot of extremists, and him asking why the letter S for straight wasn't included in the LGBT acronym.[9] Robin soon after posted a response on the TikTok account @robinsamseyt, however it has since been taken down.
Racism[]
In May 2022, the Tiktok account @robinkaja.arkiverne[note 1] would reupload videos of Robin and Samrita saying problematic stuff in their past videos. One video included a video from 2013[10] of Robin saying "I feel like a [spanish slur for black people] when i have watermelon", with Samrita replying "You need some chicken then".[11] Robin and Samrita would later make 3 videos on their account addressing the situation and apologizing.[12][13][14] They would also address a resurfaced video from February 2020, of Robin calling a drawing of a Chinese/Asian person 'coronavirus', a video which was, prior to being posted by @robinkaja.arkiverne, also posted on May 10, 2022, by the account @dansksnap.[15]
