Rushia Uruha (Japanese: 潤羽るしあ; birthday: January 22) is a Japanese former VTuber who was associated with Hololive, as part of its third generation of VTubers dubbed "Hololive Fantasy" (ホロライブファンタジー) alongside Pekora Usada, Flare Shiranui, Noel Shirogane, and Marine Houshou.

She was terminated from Hololive in February 2022 due to breach of contract.

Content[]

Rushia's debut was livestreamed on July 18, 2019, and it was followed by her playing Splatoon with Pekora.[1] She is also part of the Hololive Fantasy Minecraft server. The first game she played independently was Super Mario Maker, and other games she played included Granny Simulator, Stigmatized Prprty, Super Bunny Man, ARK, Getting Over It, APEX Legends, Mario Kart, Overcooked, Fall Guys, Undertale, Among Us, Papers, please, Grand Theft Auto, Hanako, Pokemon Unite, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Biohazard, Monster Hunter Rise, Super Mario Bros 35, and Project Winter.

While streaming, she was known for her unique mannerisms like smashing up the table due to her poor anger management skills, dressing in lolita fashion and often saying "nanodesu" and "konrushi".

She would occasionally make shorts and ASMR, and on special occasions like Halloween, she created cooking streams[2].

Rushia's first original song, Iris, was released on January 22, on the same day as her birthday.[3] On March 3, Rushia reached 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers, being the third member of Hololive Fantasy to do so (Pekora was the first and Marine was the second). She has also released a song, "Halloween Night", along with horror themed VTubers.[4]

Collaborations[]

She appeared a lot in Inuyama Tamaki's streams - a running gag in them is his "harem" (due to his large number of collaborations), as well as his "relationship" with his "girlfriend" Rushia.[5][6][7] When Rushia was asked what she would do if Tamaki was unfaithful to her, she calmly vowed to annihilate his mistress before hunting him down. She also played Among Us with the VTubers of Nijisanji[8][9].

She also played Among Us with Hololive Gamers, Botan, Kanata, Sakura, Polka, Okayu, Subaru, Luna and Marine[10]. Nene, Rushia and Laplus played APEX Legends together[11].

Rushia was one of Airani Iofifteen's inspirations, and Iofi has even drawn fan art for her. She herself was a fan of Subaru before joining Hololive.

Rushia, Ollie and Calliope formed the unit "Holodeath" together. Rushia also took humiliating jokes at her expense to defend Gura.

Termination[]

On February 24, 2022, Hololive announced Rushia was terminated from the company for breach of contract, specifically leaking company secrets.[12][13].

Many fans were shocked and wondered if it was because of the aforementioned Mafumafu drama, but this was later dropped as Cover Corp. had stood by her side and published a notice in support of her[14]. It was later found out that Rushia had reached out to drama YouTuber Korekore to explain her side of the story during the Mafumafu drama, and on Korekore had made a video exposing many secrets he was explicitly told not to by Rushia[15][16]. The leaked information included the names and personal information of several Hololive employees, which is specifically speculated to be what Hololive terminated her over[17].

Fandom[]

Her fanbase, Japanese, in is called 「ふぁんでっど」(Fandeddo), which is an attempt to combine the words「Fan（ファン）」with the word「Undead（アンデッド）」. In English, her fanbase is officially called "Fandead".

In-jokes/memes[]

  • A running joke in the fandom is her lack of big breasts ("boing-boings") and how she wished for a bigger bust (because she was "pettan"), and her tendency to cringe when her friends said the words flat" (ぺったん)" and "wall" (壁).
  • Fans who made fun of Rushia in the chat are killed before they can finish their sentence, so you should never mock her unless you wish for death.
  • Rushia's screams sounded similar to Eva Unit-01 in berserk mode.
  • Another running joke is how she adored animals, but tended to accidentally kill them while gaming, such as in ARK and Minecraft, where she killed several birds, a Strider and an axolotl respectively. She even tried to befriend a fox in the latter, only for it to jump into a fire.
  • When Rushia was mad, she often pounds her table. This has been created as "Desk-kun: -50 HP" as a meme by example.
  • Rushia being asked to say "bruh", only to say this instead.
  • Rushia and "the girlfriend experience".
  • Rushia was also very protective of her fans, and defended one when she was mocked for her appearance[18][19].

Partnerships[]

She herself also appeared in a game - she was made playable in Disgaea 6 (Japan) as a Boin Boin Succubus named Ruusha. Other VTubers in the game were Fubuki and Flare.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka stadium, on 13 August 2021, scheduled a collaboration between 12 Hololive idols including Rushia, who were to represent the SoftBank HAWKS and collaborate with six professional Japanese baseball teams from the Pacific League, two hololive members per team. They dubbed this day "Hololive day" and released exclusive merchandise to commemorate it.

A figurine of her by Goodsmile company is slated to release in June 2022.[20]

Personal life[]

Rushia grew up in the countryside of Makai for most of her life until she moved to Tokyo for her Hololive career, as revealed in her last chatting stream with Coco[21]. She has one elder brother.

Rushia has asthma and lacks a major blood vessel meant to pump blood into her head, because of this it is medically necessary for her to avoid lack of sleep and over-exhaustion.

On 27 April, 2021, Rushia revealed that she was diagnosed with reflux esophagitis and insomnia, and her streaming activities were put on a hiatus. Later she returned.
