Smash Mouth is an American-Canadian rock band based in San Jose, California. They are well known for their songs, All Star, I'm A Believer, and others. The band currently has 4 members.
History[]
The band was founded in the 1990s, by Paul De Lisle, Kevin Coleman, Greg Camp, and Steve Harwell. In 1997, they released their first viral song, Walkin' on the Sun, which appeared in the Billboard Hot 100.[1]
On April 21, 2001, the movie, Shrek was released, and the song was featured in the opening.[2] This has resulted the song to go viral, and later becoming an internet meme in the 2010s.[3]
On September 4, 2023, about two years after leaving Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell, one of the founders, passed away from liver failure at the age of 56, after dealing with alcoholism.[4][5] This makes him the only member to pass away.
On January 2024, the current members started "THREE IDIOTS EATING SANDWICHES", where they visit and review a bunch of local sandwich restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the goal of "finding the best sandwich".[6]
Channel[]
The channel originally began on their Vevo channel on May 11, 2009, and began uploading on June 16, 2009.[7] On December 25, 2009, they would release their most viewed video, an official music video for the song, All Star, with over 400 million views.[8] The HD version was released in 2019.[9] On August 18, 2023, the channel reached one million subscribers.
