"Hey what's goin' on guys? SSundee here, and welcome back to..."

―SSundee's old intro

Ian Marcus Stapleton (born: December 2, 1987 (1987-12-02) [age 36]), better known online as SSundee, is an American gaming YouTuber. He currently has twenty four million subscribers on his channel.

Early and personal life[]

Early life[]

Ian was born in Michigan on December 2, 1987, and he has African and Irish ancestry. He has lived in a variety of areas. At the age of 8, he moved to Louisiana. At the age of 16, he moved to Virginia. 2 years later he moved to South Carolina and lived there for 11 years. When he was having marital issues he briefly moved to Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. He now lives in his old home in the town of Summerville, South Carolina.

Ian joined the Air Force at an undisclosed time, and was happy with being in the military. On February 14, 2013, he uploaded a video talking about him leaving the military, and that he would have more time to make videos.

Personal life[]

In 2006, Ian married Madelyn Joi. The pair had their first son named Colton. Later on Ian and Madelyn got divorced, but were remarried in 2014. In 2017, Ian and Madelyn both separated and got together again. In November 2019, the pair had a son named Simeon. Ian has said that ever since the birth of Simeon, the pair has been doing much better.

On September 28, 2022, Ian announced he and his wife Madelyn would be having another child.[2] Four months after the baby was born, Ian announced his name was Gideon Jace.[3]

YouTube career[]

Early career (2010-13)[]

On November 27, 2009, SSundee joined YouTube. On September 14, 2010, SSundee uploaded what is thought to be his first ever Minecraft YouTube video, titled "Minecraft Cave Adventure (1 of 3)". However, it has been privated along with his old Call Of Duty videos, which he uploaded before creating Minecraft content.

Introducing Derp SSundee (2013)[]

On 28 February 2013, Ian started his alter-ego known as Derp SSundee who’s first appearance was in "Minecraft Mods - Corruption Dimension Mod - Mobs, Boss, Items". When he started to record with Lanceypooh, Derp SSundee appeared alongside Lancey's alter-ego Eddy.

Team Crafted (2013-14)[]

In 2013, Ian joined Team Crafted. After joining, he became well-known in the Minecraft YouTube space. Ian would record comedic gaming content with the group. In mid-2014, Ian left Team Crafted for an unknown reason.

Recording with Lanceypooh (2013-14)[]

On November 19, 2013, SSundee uploaded Minecraft SuperCraft Bros 45 where he collaborated with Lanceypooh. They both started to make more videos and then they started many Minecraft series. SSundee and Lancey were known as Landee.

Obsession with Cobblestone[]

On the second episode of SSundee and Lancey's FTB Minecraft series, SSundee began being obsessed with Cobblestone. On the 27th episode, SSundee had said "Cobblestone Equals Life". This marked the beginning of SSundee's obsession with Cobblestone.

Falling out with Lanceypooh[]

In March 2014, Ian met Lancey. Later on, all the series of Lancey and Ian ceased and they both had fallen apart. At the time Crainer, a small YouTuber who used to live with Lancey, had contact with Ian. Crainer was the main reason the both left recording since Crainer recorded an audio of Lancey and asked questions about Ian, although later this was proven false.

At the time Lancey was angry due to the falling-out he had with Ian. Crainer then edited the audio so that his part wasn't in it, and sent it to SSundee, causing further tension.

In 2020, Lancey uploaded a video where he stated that the 2 had ceased recording with each other because they had wrong information at the time. Lancey said he has no hostilities against Ian.

During Ian's time recording with Lancey, he achieved 2 million subscribers, helping grow his status in the community.

Recording with Crainer (2014-19)[]

In August 2014, Ian began recording with Crainer. They started a Minecraft series called "SkyFactory". At first the SkyFactory series received a lot of hate and criticism from Lancey fans, however, Ian had no other option than to record with Crainer. The duo became known as Crundee.[4] The two stopped recording together in 2019 due to time zone differences but remained close friends.

Taking Hiatus from YouTube (2017-18)[]

From December 27, 2017, to April 17, 2018, Ian left uploading gameplay videos for almost four months. Ian stated that he would be taking a temporary hiatus from YouTube due to personal issues and focusing on his family. On January 3, 2018, SSundee released a video explaining his absence, stating he would take a break from YouTube due to personal issues. On April 18, 2018, SSundee posted his first gameplay video since December 26, 2017.
