The San Diego Zoo is the official YouTube channel of the American[1] zoo with the same name.
History[]
The zoo was growing out of exhibits for animals during the Panama–California Exposition, which took place 1915-1917.[2] The exposition was meant for the opening of a new canal.[citation needed] The zoo grew quickly in the area due to the random species of animals they exhibited. [citation needed]
Channel[]
The channel was created on September 11, 2006, and the first video was uploaded on the same day.[3] The channel uploads features of their zoo, the animals there, and interviews with zookeepers.[4]
Trivia[]
- The zoo has a numerous amount of animal escapes.[5][6]
- The first ever YouTube video, Me at the zoo, was filmed at the San Diego Zoo.[7] Jawed stood behind their elephant exhibit and talked about the animals there.
- The channel also left a comment on the video which reads as: "We're so honored that the first ever YouTube video was filmed here!"[8] The comment has amassed 3.3 million likes and is currently the most liked YouTube comment.[citation needed]
