Hey all, Scott here.

―Scott The Woz's intro

Scott Daniel Wozniak[4] (born June 2, 1997 (1997-06-02) [age 28]), better known online as Scott The Woz, is an American YouTuber known for his show Scott The Woz that primarily revolves around him reviewing games and discussing general gaming topics in a comedic fashion.

History[]

Prior to launching his current channel, Scott had a previous channel called 'WozniakNewsTV' - a YouTube channel that uploaded comedy sketches made by him that often featured some of his friends, as well as the occasional gaming related videos. He uploaded on the channel until November 17, 2012, when it he announced he would be moving to a new channel, known as 'Scott The Woz'.

Scott's first videos on the new Scott The Woz channel were quite different to his current videos. "The Internet and You", "FIRST TIME VAPE SHOP VISIT! - VLOG", and "A Tour of my Frat House | Alpha Menorah JavaScript" were straight comedy sketches (similar to ones posted on WozniakNewsTV but with higher production values) that had little to do with gaming. These videos has since been rebranded as "Originals".

It wasn't until January 2017 when his famous series would start. Scott would start making gaming commentary videos, known as 'Scott The Woz'. The episodes feature Scott playing a partially fictionalized version of himself who covers gaming related topics, done in a sarcastic and comedic way, with a blue border that surrounds every episode of Scott The Woz. The show primarily consists of exclusively gaming related videos, (individual game reviews, whole franchises, general gaming topics etc.) but very occasionally features videos covering non-gaming related topics (eg. 'Chia Pet' and 'Speed Dating')

The videos vary wildly in length and sometimes feature his friends playing other characters, presented again in a comedic and skit heavy way (eg. 'A Very Madden 08 Christmas' and 'It's a Bargain Bin Christmas') The videos are posted weekly on a Sunday (or Monday in Europe) though this is sometimes changed if Wozniak is on a break/decides to delay a video.

Content[]

On October 9, 2021, it was announced that Scott The Woz episodes would begin airing on an unspecified television network,[5] which was later revealed to be G4, a previously defunct TV network focused on video game culture.[6] The series was set to air on the network on December 7th, 2021 at 6:30PM EST, however due to an Amazon Web Services outage it was postponed to 10:30PM EST that night.

Scott The Woz Timeline[]

The Scott the Woz series has an episodic consistent timeline, much like a actual story, with many consistent plot points tying together multiple episodes and ground many jokes.

Locations[]

  • The early episodes take place in the retroactively named Old Location McGee (presumably Scott's parents house.) in this location, there is a notable slant on the wall behind the desk. In 'A Very Madden 08 Christmas' Scott Wozniak finally explains his love of Madden '08 and hatred of Madden '09. This episode notably introduces Officer Steel Wool, Jeb Jab, Terry Lesler, and Wendy's Employee.
  • Old Location McGee "burned down" in 'Game Compilations Compilation' after Scott left the s'mores maker on. New Location McGee first appeared in the episode about Super Mario Galaxy 2. (Presumably the house transition was based on Scott moving into an apartment complex.) In the episode 'Game Foods' Scott taped a new blue background behind the desk, perfecting the consistent desk area for every mid episode Scott appearance.

Characters & More[]

  • In the episode 'Game Stores' Scott first meets Chet Shaft, the manager of a game store.
  • In 'It's Awesome Baby!' Scott is sent to an alternate reality and has to escape by defeating an evil alternate reality version of the YouTuber RelaxAlax.
  • In 'Homecoming' Scott first meets Rex Mohs, a school dance chaperone who has a deep hatred for sexual activity.
  • In 'The Great Mysteries of Gaming' Scott and all previous characters attend a dinner party hosted by Chet Shaft, Chet is killed and the group go on a murder mystery type adventure around the house, slowly all of Scott's friends die and Steel Wool is revealed to be the killer, Scott fights Steel Wool and wins.

In 'It's a Bargain Bin Christmas' all the previous characters "recover from death" (except Chet Shaft, who becomes a ghost) Scott hosts a charity gala to help those who have been murdered. Scott gives everyone bad video games as gifts, and the murderees become upset with Scott's actions. Later Scott apologizes and his friends give Scott a new desk. This is also where Scott first meets Kay Swiss, a worker at a bank. Kay Swiss doesn't have a major role until the 'Scott Gets Robbed' arc.

  • In 'The Trial' Scott and characters who were victims of Steel Wool (except Chet Shaft) decide to take Steel Wool to court. Scott first meets Liza Lotts, Steel Wool's lawyer. Scott and his friends win the court case and Steel Wool is sentenced to death.
  • In 'Memory Cards' Wendy's Employee dies after having a memory card thrown into his leg, and both Chet Shaft and Steel Wool were supposedly prepped for resurrection.
  • In 'Speed Dating' Scott and his friends first meets Target Employee, Wendy's Employee's brother.
  • In 'Borderline Forever' Scott, Jerry, Jeb, Rex, Terry, and Target Employee go to space to defeat The Blue Border that surrounds every episode of Scott The Woz.
  • In ‘The Funeral’ the characters attend the funeral of Wendy’s Employee.
  • In ‘The Gifts of Gaming’ Chet Shaft and Steel Wool come back from the dead.

The Dark Age of Nintendo[]

Scott The Woz had an arc about being in therapy due to reviewing so many bad video games.

  • "Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival", where Scott first meets Jerry Attricks, a therapist. This episode is told in past tense, this episode also starts the running gag of Jeb Jab loving Gex, a video game character from the series of the same name, Rex Mohs also appears in this episode.
  • "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash", where all characters from the previous episode return and the episode plays out mostly similar to the previous one, just with a different game as the topic.
  • "Chibi-Robo! Zip-Lash", where all characters from the previous episode return but the story is now taking place in the present, so Jerry Attricks is playing with Scott, Jeb, and Rex. Scott goes on a mission with the other characters to eliminate every copy of the video game, he realizes that he mostly puts his copies of the game down the toilet so Scott and his group travel to the sewers to eliminate the game for good. They discover that the copies of the game has morphed into a sewer monster called "The Anti Gex", They defeat the monster and go back to Scott's apartment to heal.

Scott Gets Robbed[]

  • "Mobile Games on Console", where he proclaimed that he wanted to be robbed tomorrow but was robbed today and didn't really have games.
  • "The Best Selling Consoles of All Time", in which he reminisces in the consoles that were the most dear to the most people that were just stolen from him.
  • "Classic NES Series for Game Boy Advance", were he got robbed again and calls the bank, getting told that all of his items were repossessed/robbed again.
  • "Eek! Emulation!", where he had no games to play so he resorted to emulating them.
  • "Gaming Revivals", where for the Halloween episode he tries to sell ghosts to generate enough money to get his stuff back from the bank and just ends up just resurrecting his financial stability to do it quickly, ending up in New Location McGee. Additionally, they try to resurrect Wendy’s Employee, but resurrect Steel Wool instead.

The episodes "Game Baths" and "Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers", were sequentially released during the robbed arc. However, they make no mention of the mini arc at the time. (Even though the Xbox soap appears on the desk in the next upload sequential video.)

Originals Timeline[]

The Originals on the Scott The Woz YouTube channel are an anthology series of short films and skits with no connection to each other or the main Scott The Woz timeline.

  • In 'The Internet and You' the main characters Abraham Ethernet (played by Scott Wozniak) and Net-Meister 4089 (played by Will Kanswhicher), go on an adventure through the internet to give the audience an educational guide through the internet. Things go wrong when they go to the deep web, they begin to be taught about mature topics like pornography and narcotics. They wish to make the internet great again so they attempt to fight Mr. Bandwidth, the ruler of the dark web, but the protagonists die trying, along with all the characters they met along the way.
  • In 'FIRST TIME VAPE SHOP VISIT! - VLOG' Scott Wozniak makes a vlog about going to a vape shop with his cloud cousins (played by Sam Essig, Joe Robertson, and Dominic Mattero).
  • In 'A Tour of My Frat House | Alpha Menorah JavaScript' Scott Wozniak makes a video touring his fraternity.
  • In 'On Your Mark, Get Set...Munch!! - From Struggling to Bankruptcy' Scott Wozniak shows off his restaurant, which is failing as a business.
  • In 'Top 10 Commandments" Scott Wozniak and Will Kanswhicher list their top 10 favorite commandments.
  • In 'Cookin' Hard' Scott Wozniak teaches the audience how to cook, but fails.

Running Gags/Inside Jokes[]

The series features several running gags and recurring references, these include:

  • Whenever Scott uses a phone, he usually picks up both the phone and dock unplugged, acting like he can listen to the other end.
  • Madden NFL 08 is repeatedly referenced by Wozniak as the greatest game to ever exist.
  • Scott has repeatedly shown his disgust towards the game Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash, most famously with the recurring gag of him saying "This game blows!" before throwing a copy of the game into his toilet. He later covered in Episode 175 and branded it his least favorite game ever made.
  • The Sega Genesis game Dick Vitale's Awesome Baby! College Hoops appears on Scott's desk in the background of every Scott The Woz episode. Other items on the desk include a bottle of Pepto-Bismol, the hat, glasses and VHS from 'The Internet and You', a tambourine, an OUYA controller, and every copy of the game Madden NFL 08.
    • After the Video: "Game Baths", the bottle of Xbox soap used in the video was added on the desk.
  • The Wii games FlingSmash and Donkey Kong Barrel Blast are mentioned in many of his videos as recurring jokes.
  • Scott often jokingly says that he has been diagnosed with various illness throughout many episodes, such as Scoliosis, Osteoporosis, Depression, Anxiety, Eczema or Colorblindness (Scott ironically later confirmed he does in fact have Colorblindness in real life).
  • Jeb Jab (played by Sam Essig) has repeatedly stated his love for the titular character of the game Gex: Enter the Gecko.
    • Jeb Jab, sadly, is fooled whenever the word Gex is mentioned and/or added to any video game, unknowingly being consistently tricked into playing not Gex through his blind Gex fanatism.[3]
  • Scott often jokes about irrelevance every time he brings up any reference to the macOS operating system.
  • Scott has joked about his name in tons of episode. In one episode he says his name is "Scott 'Will Eventually Take a Look at the First Mega Man' Wozniak (working title)", which is obviously not his real name. In another episode he changed his name to "531-00-8714 'Star Fox' Wozniak", which is also not his real name. In some videos he refers to himself as other nicknames like "Dr. Crotch", The "anti-virgin" or the "third piece of sh*t" as among many other nicknames.

Collaborations[]

  • Scott is considered "Z tier" according to videogamedunkey's "youtuber tier list."
  • Scott's fans once took over JonTron's subreddit during Jon's 11 month hiatus.
    • In JonTron's video after his hiatus 'Flex Tape II: The Flexening - JonTron' at 7:40 Jon remarked, "I was actually gone so long, that my subreddit has officially replaced me with someone named Scott the Woz, sounds a bit like a terminal illness to me".
    • At the end of Scott the Woz's video 'The WiiWare Chronicles IV', released later that same day, on the paper Scott reads at 9:23, it says backwards "No JonTron, YOU sound like a terminal illness".

Music[]

Scott often creates original music for episodes of Scott The Woz with the help of musicians.[8]

'The Bible Game Gospel' is the first original song, sung by Scott and produced by Mike Stoney. It first appeared in the 2019 April fools episode 'The Bible Game'.[9] "There's a Madden for Me" is the first song in the Scott The Woz series to be produced by Nicholas Karr, who does a majority of Scott The Woz songs currently. The song first appeared in the episode 'It's Awesome Baby!'.[10] "It's a Bargain Bin Christmas" is a song that comes from the episode of the same name, this is the first song in the Scott The Woz series to be produced by Garret Williamson, who also does a large amount of songs for Scott The Woz.

"Why Don't You Play Them?" is a song produced by Garrett Williamson and sung by Scott for the episode 'You're Not an RPG Guy - A Scott The Woz Christmas'.[11] "Stupid Nintendo Games" is a song produced by Nicholas Karr and sung by Scott for the episode 'Borderline Forever'.[12] It also has a reprise at the end of the episode.[13] "Closing In" is a song produced by Garrett Williamson and sung by Scott for the episode 'Borderline Forever'.[12] "Might as Well" is a song produced by Nicholas Karr and sung by Scott for the episode 'Borderline Forever'.[14]

"The Next Best Thing" song appears in the episode 'Have a Bootleg Gaming Christmas!'.[15] "Break-In" song was created by Nicholas Karr, loosely based on the original outro music for the series - "Break Out" from 3D Dot Game Heroes. The new theme was created for Scott to have an outro with its own original identity. Break-In was also performed by The 8-Bit Big Band in 'Have a Bootleg Gaming Christmas!'.[15]
