Shaddai Prejean,[2] better known online as Shädman, is a Swiss former YouTuber and NSFW artist who is known for Rule 34 and pornographic art and web comics. He is known for making art of Loli/shota and other characters such as Elastigirl. He created his website, the Shädbase and Newgrounds account in 2009, and his YouTube account in 2010.
Ever since launching his online career, he gained a cult following. He has also become a controversial and hated figure on the internet due to his behaviour.
History[]
Not much was initially known about Shädman's personal life, but towards mid-2021, images of his actual face and other information surfaced. His mother Karin is of Swiss descent, and his father Thaddeus[3] is a Creole originating from the southern United States in Lafayette, Louisiana. Shädman was raised in Switzerland, presumably living most of his childhood in the city of Zürich. He originally wanted to pursue a career in game design due to his interest in video games[4] and attended an art school.
Eventually, the artwork in his portfolio was discovered, containing drawings that were considered "highly illegal" and was called a "menace to society" leading him to be expelled from this school soon afterward. Still wanting to pursue his dreams, he did freelance art before making his break online on Newgrounds in 2009. After serving in the army for a short period in Switzerland,[5] he would later move to Canada and eventually the United States. He resides in the Los Angeles area in California.
Around early 2019, Shädman stated he would quit drawing loli and pornographic art due to the gigantic amount of drama he had been involved in, including Hollywood investigating him.
Content[]
Most of Shädman's videos consist of time-lapses of him drawing lewd art of fictional characters in a sexualized manner. Sometimes he'll draw art of other characters, or something relating to metal/goth culture. He will also give updates about his life or answers to questions he has been asked. He stopped uploading videos around 2018 after stating he would quit drawing vulgar art.
Controversy[]
Eddsworld drawing[]
Many people criticized him for his underaged and politically incorrect art. One example is when Edd Gould died, to which Shädman responded by drawing art of Edd being raped by the grim reaper.[6] However, Shädman and his friends, such as Psychicpebbles, RicePirate, and Spazkid, defended him because his art was meant to be offensive on purpose.[7]
Loli/Shota Drawings[]
He has also drawn art of seductive underaged girls called "lolis" (and its male counterpart, "shota"), from which he's gotten into drama. Some fans defended him, mentioning that they were fictional and that it's his freedom of expression. Later on, Shädman had said that he regrets making the drawings and promised to take it off of his website. However, he didn't keep his promise as he continued to draw multiple underaged girls such as soph, who at the time was 11. Because he drew underage girls, the university he went to reported him to the authorities.[8]
Keemstar controversy[]
On Tumblr, someone asked him to make art of Keemstar's 7-year-old daughter giving Donald Trump a blowjob. He said he would do it if Trump won the election. When Trump did win, Shädman drew art of Keemstar's daughter, portraying her in an overly sexualized manner, to which Keemstar responded by threatening to call the cops. Colossal is Crazy invited Shädman on his stream to talk about it, and Shäd said because he respected him, he would take it down.[9]
Dafne Keen drawings[]
Another controversy Shädman got involved in was when he drew the art of Dafne Keen, who was only 12 around the time he made art of her. Some of the art depicted Keen from the 2017 Logan movie, being molested and beaten up. Leaked messages from Discord would surface of Shädman calling her a loli, prompting many of Shädman's friends and fans to question his decisions and art.[10] While some defended him by saying that it is tasteless on purpose, many would send hate towards him, being called a pedophile and edge lord. He would later receive a cease and desist from Dafne Keen's lawyers.[11]
Alleged assault[]
On 28 October 2021,[12] Shädman was arrested for assault and attempting to murder a person with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles. This became known on social media after the Kiwi Farms Twitter account posted Shädman's court records.[13]
