Penny Olivia Parker (born: August 20, 1998 (1998-08-20) [age 26])[1][2], better known online as SnapCube, is an American YouTuber, voice actress, streamer, and musician; best known for the improvised series SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub (formerly Real-Time Fandub Games), in which she and her friends dub over video game cutscenes from memory. She is also known for her Let's Play videos, both solo and collaborative.

About[]

Penny got her first break on YouTube under the name Knitting Giant Beanies, where she uploaded original music, song covers, and her own voice acting. The Knitting Giant Beanies channel received a lot of positive attention for her videos related the Disney series Gravity Falls,[3] and most notably her impressions of the character Bill Cipher, however she would opt to separate from the character.[4] Since then, she's changed the name of that channel into "Penny Parker", and it now serves as her current alternate account, now the place for music covers and short-form videos.

In July 2016, Penny launched her gaming channel, titled "SnapCube". The channel began a slow but steady growth during its early months, and continued its success with its long-form playthrough series. Since then, Penny has put the personal channel on the backburner and is now primarily devoted to the SnapCube channel. In 2017, she would launch "SnapCube 2", a channel dedicated to stream archives and occasional videos unsuitable for the main channel.

SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub[]

On June 8, 2018, less than a year before Real-Time Fandub (a web series where voice actors improvise dialogue over a TV show or movie off the top of their head) ended its live run, Penny would upload the first episode of Real-Time Fandub Games (now SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub). She along with her fellow RTF alumni — Ryan, Blue, Alfred and Hayley — dubbed over the cutscenes of the game Sonic Adventure 2, starting with only the "Hero" story. This would turn out to be a big hit and broke viewership records for the channel.

Over a month later, she would publish the second episode of SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub, a dub of the same game's "Dark" and "Final" stories. It would become her second most viewed video, currently sitting at well over 10 million views. The episode was generally par for the course, but what made it stand out was a scene where Dr. Eggman shoots the moon with his laser, but in the dub, the scene instead showcased Dr. Eggman urinating on the moon because his wife cheated on him with Shadow the Hedgehog. The commitment and hilarity of the moment lead to the clip being used in many memes across social media, to the point of it being referenced on the Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2022.

Collaborations[]

SnapCube started early on as a collaboration-focused channel, with guests including those in her immediate friend circle (frequently from both Charley the Pirate Theydy's, and eventually her own, Real-Time Fandub series). Through 2019 and 2020, this would narrow down to just the ClownHouse creator group, making up the entire cast of SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub. While co-hosted videos were slowly phased out in favor of more chat interaction and individual-based content from 2020 onwards, some occasional collaborations occur from time to time.

In August 2019, she lent her voice to the JelloApocalypse video So This is Basically Sonic the Hedgehog as the titular character.

In August 2022, she co-hosted a Twitch livestream with Polygon video producer Patrick Gill titled r/AmITheA**hole SMACKDOWN in which various prompts from the titular subreddit would be personified as wrestlers and pitted against each-other.

Music[]

Parker has posted covers of favorite songs since as early as 2015, originally making up half of the videos on the self-titled YouTube channel. In 2016, she and Ryan Mitchum founded their independent band Go! Child, and released their first album the following year, The Masquerade, followed by their second album in 2019, Coffee and Ramen. They were met with great success among their fans. Both albums were mixes of original songs and fan dedications to their favorite mutual games and series.

Later on, Penny began experimenting with her own solo music productions like "New Day", "Rude Mountain" (which was featured on an episode of SnapCube's Real-Time Fandub as a credits theme), and later culminating in the release of her 2021 debut solo EP, DeReconstruct.

She has been the featured vocalist in three Sonic the Hedgehog song covers by the musician Victor McKnight, including "Endless Possibilities", "I Am... All Of Me", and "One Way Dream".
