Snow Patrol is a Northern Irish-Scottish band from Dundee, Scotland. Formed in 1994 by Gary Lightbody, Mark McClelland and Michael Morisson, the band is best known for their some of their hit singles, especially their hit single Chasing Cars.

Originally named Shrug, the band was formed by University of Dundee and friends Gary Lightbody, Mark McClelland, and Michael Morisson. In 1996, the name was changed to Polarbear to avoid potential legal issues with other bands of the same name, which was later changed to Snow Patrol in 1997 due to legal issues with another band. As of February 2022, the band has released seven studio albums, thirty-one singles, eight EPs, three compilation albums and one live DVD.
