Spoctor (born: April 10, 2001 (2001-04-10) [age 23]) is an American former YouTube commentator that produced commentary videos pertaining to many fandoms and communities that he considered cringe or uncomfortable to watch. He also used to make videos surrounding and summarizing drama he and other YouTubers have been in. He was active on YouTube from 2015 to 2023.

History[]

Early Career[]

Spoctor began his YouTube in late 2015 under the name SpaticTech, which featured Speedpaint videos. In late 2016, Spoctor would branch out and start releasing videos on his main channel, usually criticizing other YouTubers in the art and animation meme community alongside other less successful joking videos using a character of Spoctor Theory. These videos were largely unconstructive and would consist mostly of ranting. The criticism videos became successful and led him to amass over 70k subscribers by April 2018. However, he would lose many subscribers due to the 2018 false accusation scandal surrounding him.

Return[]

Spoctor privated his channel some time in the middle of 2023. He later returned to YouTube in October 2023 with a video unreleated to his previous controversies. This video was made an entire year beforehand and was already seen by his Patreon backers. This video was met with criticism from the community. Spoctor acted coy in the comment section, saying he felt posting of the video was "cute" and he might delete it later. Several videos were also deleted from his account, leaving only 10 avaliable at the time. Spoctor's channel would be deleted circa April 2024, thought the exact time is unknown. Oddly, Spoctor's Patreon account still remains up, despite his inactivity, with continued payment.

Controversies[]

2018 false accusation scandal[]

In 2018, Spoctor was accused of pedophilia alongside many other charges in videos by former commentators Atari, Stories, and Pentagrin leading to a large loss of subscribers. However, the tables would turn when Ponder Sprocket, another commentator, debunked most of the claims. Later leaks by Atari revealed the videos were part of an attempt to take down Spoctor by Pentagrin and Stories.

Post-scandal[]

After the scandal, Spoctor's video style would change, and he would start releasing videos that often used facecam of him wearing a raptor head. Unlike the previous rant-esque uploads, these videos featured more constructive criticism and a calmer Spoctor, and would prove more successful than his previous content, becoming a regular feature on his channel.

From 2018 onwards, Spoctor would upload videos of him wearing a raptor mask.

Other current content on Spoctor’s channel includes video reviews and commentary, with him portraying an anthropomorphic lizard character of the same name. Other content includes movie and other media reviews, with him making the videos as Tech, another lizard character. He also streams games.

In Late 2022 Spoctor came under numerous controversies related to criticism of a video about the TikTok dissociative identity disorder video. His actions related to a video TheNamesJunkie controversy in 2021, his views on the Hopeless Peaches controversy in 2020, and his subsequent response to the all of these issues. Spoctor later said in a response video around that time that he was seeking mental help and he has since been inactive from YouTube.

2023 child grooming scandal[]

On April 10 2023, LioConvoy uploaded a video titled "The Darkness Behind The User Spoctor Call," which showed Spoctor in a Discord call with TheNamesJunkie and Feghost admitting to asking a 13-year old girl for nudes while he was 16 at the time. The nudes were contained in a hard-drive that he kept for a period of time during the relationship, until he ended up wiping and crushing it back in 2019 once he was past the age of adulthood. He had also compared his adopted sister to his partner because both of them were the exact same age when he dated her. He felt relieved because he had good relations with his sister after his young girlfriend broke up with him.[1] It was also shown that he was laughing about the situation during the Discord call.
