StarPlus is an Indian television network that is operated by Disney Star, a subsidiary of Disney India. It shows people doing challenges and interviews. The program's programming includes family dramas, comedies, youth-oriented reality shows, crime shows, and television films.[2]
History[]
When it was first launched on 21 February 1992,[3] it was an English-language entertainment television channel that broadcasted international shows from the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with Zee TV as its Hindi counterpart.[4]
StarPlus ended its relationship with Zee TV in March 1996, transforming StarPlus into a Hindi-language channel.[5] Star World became the network's English-language counterpart channel, following StarPlus' bilingual status from April 1996 to June 2000.[6]
The channel launched in the United States in November 2004.[7]
The channel launched its high-definition feed on 15 April 2011,[8] offering the same schedule as the SD feed but with different commercials.
StarPlus HD, originally scheduled for launch in the UK and Ireland by the end of 2011,[9] was postponed until 5 July 2012.[10]
