Sticks, also known as SticksFilms, is a YouTube channel run by Australian-American brothers and filmmakers Lucas "Luke" Nicotra and Curtis Nicotra. The channel's primary source of content consists of making movie trailers for YouTubers with over ten million subscribers.

History[]

Lucas and Curtis opened their first YouTube channel, Parable, on November 13, 2011. The goal of this channel was to create short films using their background in filmmaking. Their second video, titled Paper Boy, was their most popular video on that channel, gaining nearly 2 million views. After a few years of making videos trying to capture the same level of success, they moved to their current channel, titled Sticks. They made a few more videos of the same style before deciding on their new source of content, YouTubers. The idea was to collaborate with the staff of large YouTubers to make movie trailers themed around the YouTubers' lives. Their first short film in this style was starring Airrack. After filming the movie, they uploaded it to YouTube, and a member from Eric's team said they'd show him the video. Lucas and Curtis wanted to see Eric watch it in person, however, and attempted to receive permission to fly to America from Australia. They received permission, but they missed the flight in a dash to the flight gate.[2] Despite this setback, they went on to make a movie for Ryan Trahan, but this time, they were able to fly to America to film with their double for Ryan. They rented a theater and showed Ryan the premier of their trailer, at the end of which, they asked him to film a short video with them to send to MrBeast, as they had a goal set: to make a full-length film about Jimmy's life. While Ryan filmed the video with them and sent it to Jimmy, he never responded. A little while later, Lucas and Curtis received a position on Mark Rober's YouTube shorts team. After that, they then created a short film for him, and, after again flying to America and coordinating a surprise time to drive Mark to the theater, they showed Mark the trailer, and, after, asked him to call Jimmy right then and there. He told them that, instead of calling him then, he would discuss it in person with him when they met in a few months. Jimmy agreed to meet with Lucas and Curtis, but only if they hit five million subscribers first. After this point, Lucas and Curtis moved to America,[1] meaning they wouldn't need to fly to the U.S. to film and premier their upcoming trailers. Their next and most recent trailer was for Zach King, and after the premier, they asked him to feature them in one of his shorts, with the hope of boosting them toward five million subscribers. He agreed to this. As-of March 22, 2024, then released a trailer dedicated to MatPat (The Game Theorists), in honor of his legacy, but have not released their behind-the-scenes video yet.
