Alan Chen Stokes and Alex Chen Stokes (born: November 23, 1996 (1996-11-23) [age 28]), better known online as the Stokes Twins, are Chinese-American YouTuber twin brothers known for their pranks, challenges, and myth busting videos.[1]

Their channel has been one of the fastest growing channels since early March 2024, when they had around 27 million subscribers, but by May 16, they had already had over 50 million subscribers. As of December 2024, they have now hit over 100 million subscribers.

History[]

The Stokes Twins joined YouTube on April 11, 2008 under the name alanalan9635, however, their first public video was actually uploaded nine years later, on May 21, 2017, which was a question and answer video. Throughout their YouTube career, they uploaded videos of them doing challenges, giving away money, pranking others, and mythbuster videos, where they test myths to see if they are real or not.

In July 2021, they collaborated with motivational YouTuber Dhar Mann and were featured as the main characters on the video titled Twins Get CAUGHT CHEATING on TEST ft. @Stokes Twins | Dhar Mann. In November 2021, they did another collaboration with Dhar and were once again featured as main characters on one of Dhar's videos which was Twin Gets KIDNAPPED By STRANGER Ft. @Stokes Twins | Dhar Mann. Alex and Alan seem to have many friends or crew members, such as Kat Hixson, Tanner, Shawn, Zac (Ref), Brian, Caleb, and Bok.

Personal life[]

Alex and Alan were both born and raised in China. They are of Caucasian and Chinese descent. They later moved to Tennessee at a young age. They both currently live in Irvine, California.

Alex and Alan were part of a collaborative YouTube channel known as Sunset Park in 2017 from where they met Andrew Davila. They stayed there for almost a year before deciding to take a break from YouTube. In 2020, social media personality Brent Rivera asked the twins to be a part of his YouTube group known as Amp World whose members include Andrew Davila, Alexa "Lexi" Rivera, Ben Azelart, Dom Brack, Jeremy Hutchins, Lexi Hensler, and Pierson Wodzynski.

Controversy[]

Bank robbery "prank"[]

In 2019, the twins made a video where they faked a bank robbery. In the video, they wore black masks and outfits and carried duffel bags filled with money as they ran through a crowd of people who thought the robbery was real. They later get into an Uber, but the driver refused to take them. The police later caught the twins and arrested them for faking a robbery. The twins soon pled guilty, and were charged with false imprisonment and false reporting of an emergency. They were given one year of formal probation, 160 hours of community service, and they had to pay for restitution.[2][3] Additionally, they were ordered not to make any videos related to criminal activities and to stay away from the University of Irvine California, which is where they staged one of their pranks.[4][5]
