Sydney Ann Poniewaz (born: April 12, 1995 (1995-04-12)), better known online as sydsnap, is an American YouTuber and an occasional voice actress mainly known for her NSFW anime-related videos.

Content

She first began posting to her YouTube channel in February 2013. She left YouTube in 2014, after meeting her boyfriend (now husband) Gigguk, and moved to England with a student visa, attending a university in London. She quit study not long after her first year; soon after, she and Gigguk moved to Thailand.

In Thailand, Sydney tried different occupations including hospitality, teaching, modeling and a bunch of other things to fill her time, until she returned to YouTube in 2017.

She makes videos about anime, manga, hentai and video games, and she often reviews NSFW content as well. After moving to Japan she started to make videos on the culture and lifestyle of the country, as well as interviewing people like one of Japan's biggest American pornstars and Japanese bars.

Her other content includes cosplays, ASMR, song covers and remaking anime food/drinks. Her favorite anime/manga include Zankyou no Terror, Bokurano, Death Parade, Anohana, Drops of God, and Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun. She prefers food themed anime, manga and shows.

Collaborations

Sydney met Gigguk through his Neon Genesis Evangelion parody, EvAbridged, in which she was a voice actress.

She went to a bar with rapper DEMONDICE once. DEMONDICE was even invited to her and Garnt's wedding.

On June 4, 2020, Sydney uploaded the video "I Audition To Become A Real Life Waifu" where she detailed her applying to be a VTuber. Although she had made the video, she did not actually apply to Hololive. She was instead approached by VShojo and has accepted to join them.

Her character designer is Apricot the Lich, her animator is Enma Akatsuki, her animatics were done by Isaak Wolf and Kentama made her overlays. She named her VTuber character Hime Hajime.

However since her debut, she has not collaborated much with her fellow VTubers. She has said that it is because she lives in Japan's time zone and the rest of VShojo are based in the America/Britain, and her apartment has very strict noise regulations, making it risky to stream outside of specific time windows.

Unlike the rest of VShojo and VTubers in general, she is open about her identity, albeit inadvertently, and even CDawgVA and Ironmouse occassionally slip up and refer to Hime as "Sydney". As a result, her identity has become known as one of the worst-kept secrets among VTuber fans. Sydney has even teased this, such as in her video about cosplaying the VShojo girls; she deliberately cosplayed as every member of the agency sans Hime and instead made Garnt cosplay her.

Lore

According to her Vshojo entry, Hime Hajime (birthday: 4 June) is "A well-endowed Alien/Dragon/Robot hybrid from some far away planet. She decided to explore the universe but was drawn to Earth due to its variety entertainment. Currently living in an old Japanese apartment but enjoys her time with videogames and alcohol. Often a bit crude but has a soft pleasant aura around her. Chose the name Hime Hajime from an ‘eroge’ as I think they call it on Earth?".

She is an extraterrestrial robot-dragon hybrid raised by her dragon father (to woo the males and have as many children as possible) on a planet primarily consisting of dragons. She could easily take over a planet by populating it with an abundance of children and raising an army to become queen of her planet.

Hime is also as tall as the Empire State Building, and her fandom is dubbed "the Hime Harem". Her personality is loud, rude, and boisterous, and she often swears.

According to Hime herself, her "DNA" is at least 80% robot, but her children are naturally robots. Despite having live births in litters of around 100 at a time, her planet's population is less than Earth's. She has also claimed that her liver is made of iron and that she has a metallic spine to help her balance.

Hime left her children behind to expand her harem and take over the galaxy. She learned about Japan and Earth from anime on TV during her space travel, so she landed in Tokyo. However, she was shocked to discover it was nothing like anime. In particular, she was shocked by the human practice of monogamy.

Projekt Melody found her and educated her on humanity, which made her decide that VTubing was the way to expand her Hime Harem, the first step to taking over this new planet. Her debut was later than the other VShojo girls because she struggled to find an apartment in Tokyo that could fit her breasts.

Hime's age is between 10 and one million, and she is 70kg, likely due to the metal in her body.

Personal life

She is of Polish descent. She has brothers.

She grew up in a very conservative Christian region of Wisconsin and thus did not receive any sex education in school. As a result, she got most of her sex education through hentai.

She worked as a model and an English teacher in Thailand. She has also lived in Australia and Japan. She has also vacationed to Brussels, Belgium.

She got engaged to anime YouTuber Gigguk in April 2019, whom she married in June 2022.
