Early life[]

Tomas Tammemets was born and raised in Kopli, a subdistrict of Tallinn.[4] In his childhood, Tammemets recalls running away from the police many times, for painting illegal graffiti.[5] He has said that his drug use led him to be ejected from schooling. Because of this, he never graduated from secondary school, despite sitting exams, he later took up painting and dancing instead of formal education. Although his family spoke only Russian at home, he also became fluent in the Estonian language early on in the local kindergarten and primary school.
