The entire 'Controversy' section is unsourced tin-foil speculation about Abigail Thorn having committed a serious criminal offence, mainly originating from malicious sites like lolcow and Kiwifarms. The section cites two sources, which both link to the same image, which is nothing but incredibly thin theories about an incredibly serious offense. The speculated assault has not been alleged by any source. The Wiki should only contain credibly sourceable, useful information, not be a catch-all for any random things that some anonymous person has said about the subject of the page. Furthermore, allegations about a person committing sexual assault are incredibly serious, and should be subject to extreme scrutiny. Therefore the section should be deleted.
Second this. This is conspiratorial hogwash and should be treated as such. I attempted to remove the section myself, but the website automatically identified my edits as "harmful" and didn't allow them.
And if we want to get into things, there are more reasonable explanations for everything that is pointed to as "evidence" in this conspiracy theory and the claims made don't fully add up.
Abigail's last appearance in a Contrapoints video was in Opulence, the video that got Natalie cancelled. Following the release of Opulence, many of the people who did voiceovers for the video, including Abigail, received considerable harassment, as well as death threats. This is detailed in Natalie's video Canceling, the same video she notes that she has a "me too story about a prominent figure in leftist politics." What the conspiracy theorists leave out is that Natalie stopped collaborating with everyone after Opulence, most likely because of the targeted harassment levelled at people who were publicly seen around her. The notable exception is Lindsey Ellis, who recently quit Youtube due to consistent harassment towards her.
It should also be noted that if we accept the premise that the fact they stopped collaborating on Youtube is evidence that Abigail is the aforementioned "prominent figure in leftist politics", then the alleged assault must have happened in between Opulence and Canceling, which is a considerably small window and would mean that this took place pretty much immediately before Natalie wrote the script for Canceling. However, a bigger hole in this theory is that Natalie appeared on Abigail's birthday stream in 2020, a few months after the release of Canceling.
Another piece of "evidence" is that the two of them no longer follow each other on Twitter. As far as I can tell nobody noticed this until after Abigail came out as trans in early 2021, which leaves a pretty long period after the alleged incident where the two were seemingly fine with being Twitter mutuals. A more reasonable explanation is that they made a decision not to interact publicly on social media anymore because people around Natalie receive targeted harassment on a regular basis. Abigail's coming out was very well thought out and it makes perfect sense that a part of that planning would be to make this decision with Natalie.
Another thing to note is that shortly before Abigail's coming out Natalie released on video on JK Rowling. Natalie clearly made a decision not to publicly comment on Abigail's coming out because that would likely just bring harassment towards Abigail, but making a video about British transphobia right before your British friend is gonna publicly come out as trans is a pretty clear sign of support. Other claims made in this conspiracy theory are outright transphobic and reveal this conspiracy theory for what it is: targeted harassment of a high profile trans woman.
This is all beside the obvious point that "prominent figure in leftist politics" is a very weird way of describing a youtuber. The claims are unsubstantiated, easily debunkable and very potentially libelous. They should be removed and it's frankly embarrassing that they have been allowed to stay up for this long. - BlurpletheGreat
