Planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!
TeamTrees.org (or Team Trees) is a widespread fundraiser created by Mark Rober and MrBeast. The fundraiser is used to attempt planting 20 million trees before January 1, 2020, to help save the environment after multiple forest fires, and the Amazon Rainforest fire that took place in 2019.
History
It all started when MrBeast made a tweet on May 22, stating asking his fans how he will give his 20 millionth subscriber with (he was planning to give 20 million pennies but he procrastinated and it’s too late to get them in time).[1] The Redditors at r/PewdiepieSubmissions requested MrBeast to plant 20 million trees.[2] Someone on Twitter requested that MrBeast should collab with Mark Rober or someone else.[3]
Months later, a tweet by MrBeast on October 13 appeared, stating that there will be a really huge collaboration on October 25.[4] When MrBeast released his video attempting to plant 20 million trees, he was only able to plant 1,700 in the video, and then asked his fans to donate so the goal can later be reached.
Donators
Elon Musk donated 1 million USD to plant 1 million trees and has also changed his Twitter name to 'Treelon' and a picture of trees in the background.[5]
Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, donated 200,000 USD to plant 200,000 trees and has also made her own fundraiser video with Mark Rober to help out.[6][7]
