John Ryan Phillips (born: July 21, 1998), better known online as Tewtiy, is an American gaming YouTuber. His 53 popular video series known as, Pixelmon Island, was released in June 2016 and ending in October of the same year which gained his channel quite a bit of popularity helping him surpass 100,000 subscribers in a little over a month. Soon after this series ended he started another popular series on his channel named Troll Pack that was also well received by his fans. Soon after the conclusion of this series in November, Phillips moved on to play various types of games moving his channel away from Minecraft for the most part. During 2017 his content started revolving around the widely popular Plants vs Zombies game series as well as it's Sequel. Then later in the year started playing multiple other flash and mobile games while still remaining family friendly. Then in later 2017, his content started to shift to the Bloons Tower Defense series and after the sixth game was released it was really the only content he uploaded regularly.
Personal life[]
Growing up, Phillips use to live in Georgia and North Carolina. He grew up along side his mom, dad, older brother, and their family dog Goose. Phillips was known to be homeschooled and use to live and work on a horse farm. When not playing minecraft, or hanging out with friends, Phillips use to participate in Boys Scouts. Unlike most kids, he also use to live on a sailboat (called the Irwin 41′) and sailed around the US with his parents. Currently he resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. He lived with fellow YouTube personalities Jerome Aceti (known as JeromeASF) and Alex Galvez (known as Alexircraft) from mid 2016 till early 2017. Eventually in early 2017 Phillips leased and moved into his own little house in St. Petersburg, which he stayed at until late November of the same year. He would then proceed to move in with his older brother in Georgia all of 2017 and early 2018. Then in the summer of 2018 he got a house with friend and fellow YouTuber FavreMySabre and together filmed a lot of real life videos for his other channel, while still making videos and content for his main channel. He said, in his video "The GOLDEN BLOON in BTD 6!", that he was of Irish heritage.
Meeting JeromeASF[]
Phillips had once been a huge fan of Jerome Aceti(JeromeASF). After viewing one of Jerome's Minecraft videos, Phillips had acquired an urge to animate the video, sending it to Jerome. Although Jerome hadn't initially seen the video, several other fans of Jerome had seen the animation and had prompted to continuously send Jerome the video until he finally watched it. Jerome loved the animation so much that he asked Phillips if he could upload the video to his channel, which he was given permission to do and uploaded it. As time went on, Phillips and Jerome grew closer as friends and as content providers, beginning to record videos together and progressively making more animations for Jerome's channel.
In the summer of 2016, Jerome and Phillips had agreed to move in together. At first he stayed with Jerome in fellow YouTuber/Friend, Mitch Hughes(TheBajanCanadian) home until finally moving out into Jerome's apartment in August of 2016 where he would stay until early 2017. Although no longer filming as much together since late 2017, Jerome and Phillips do occasionally attend events together and are still very good friends.
Career[]
Phillips enjoyed playing minecraft while hiding away in his bunk on the Erwin 41' and also loved watching other people play the game as well. After moving to Florida during the summer of 2016 he would go to work alongside JeromeASF and TheBajanCanadian even working with them in a Office starting October of that year. Along side playing games he made animations. They varied from funny moments from other peoples videos, skits, music videos, or little short videos of his own minecraft player. Phillips's main channel, Tewtiy, has played many modded minecraft games, he did slowly play many other types of games including: Roblox, and Planet Explorer, Astroneer, Plants vs Zombies, etc. His second channel, "TewtiyTwo", contains games of whatever he feels of playing including: PUBG, Shellshock, Amazing Frog, Resident Evil 7, etc. He created a third channel named "Bananaguns"(Great Channel, Check it Out!) in early 2017 based upon the running jokes of bananas on his main channel. On June 5th of 2017 he created a fourth channel, "DotaTew" (Later renamed "Ryan") for specifically Dota content though he is rarely active on this channel. He is a member of the Nice Posture Squad along with Aceti, Galvez, Ben Addington (known as FrizzlenPop). With later additions to the team in the form of Dasha (Miniidear), Andrew (Sigils), Austin (BiffleWiffle). Phillips had also appeared alongside many other YouTubers during his Pixelmon Island and Troll Pack series including: PeteZahHutt, Vikkstar123, KwehCraft, LandonMC, and many more. In September 2017, he started a short sequel series to Pixelmon Island known as "Pixelmon World" joined by JeromeASF and a new group of YouTubers including: Generzon, Char, Xylophoney, Sigils, and many more, however it ended after only 33 episodes. Towards the end of 2017 when Phillips moved to Georgia he began making more solo content though still filming video's occasionally with other members of the Nice Posture but still playing games that he enjoyed on his channel even started to do VR in 2018. He also made an announcement in 2018 he would focus more of his efforts in 2018 to his real life channel of "Bananaguns" though it would not affect the content he makes on his main channel.
Tewtiy's part in Bloons TD 6 History[]
Tewtiy's first Bloons TD 6 video was released on June 9th, 2018 during the early access of the game. At the time Tewtiy play random games but overtime he began to focus more and more on BTD 6. In 2020 he had an exclusive interview with Sam from Ninja Kiwi where they announced the upcoming "flying hero" which turned out to be Psi. In 2020 he also began using Bloons TD 6 mods and overtime the mods on Tewtiy's channel have moved from simple stacking towers or attack speed mods to complex mods with 3d models, custom mechanics and even music. In 2020 NinjaKiwi, the creator of Bloons TD 6, sent Tewtiy a care package containing several merch items relating to BTD 6.[1]
eSports Career[]
In 2022 Tewtiy was picked up by the eSports team[2], Luminosity Gaming. Luminosity Tweeted "This “pro” Bloons player is infectiously positive, & after working w/ him on the Lego Technic First Class Show, we knew he'd be a great fit for LG. You can look forward to some crazy exclusive content w/ Tewtiy very soon!" Tewtiy responded to the Tweet stating that he was humbled to be part of the fam.
Topple Tactics[]
In 2023 Tewtiy announced his new game, Topple Tactics which he worked on with game developer, Braian Strak. The game is a multiplayer tower defense game where one MEGA player controls the map by placing towers and using abilities, while the 7 little players race to the end of the map in order to defeat the huge player.[3] Topple Tactics was released on October 20 2023 and received a Steam rating of Very Positive.[4]
On the day of the announcement some comments accused Tewtiy of stealing Braian's game as his own. This initial reaction was false, Topple Tactics steam page shows Tewtiy as the publisher of the game and Braian Strak explained in his first Topple Tactics video that he's working with Tewtiy.[4] Tewtiy also worked with Braian Strak during the development of Bloons but You're the Bloons, a first person fan made spinoff of Bloons TD 6. Despite the video description and video itself explaining that Tewtiy collaborated with Braian, some viewers came to the conclusion that Tewtiy wasn’t working with Braian or was taking credit himself. Tewtiy and Braian both remain in Topple Tactics official Discord server and appear to be friends.[5]

Bloons TD Battles 2 Charity Event[]
On March 28, 2023, Tewtiy would upload the video; They’re adding ME to BTD Battles 2?!?. Tewtiy announced there was a charity event in Bloons TD Battles 2 in partnership with Nexus. If player used any YouTuber creator codes and purchased something from the in-game shop, the money would go to a pool of up to $25,000 which would be donated to the charity. Boltrix Tweeted about the event, "Ninja Kiwi is hosting a Battles 2 Charity Showdown! From March 27th to April 1st, 15% of every creator code attributed transaction in Battles 2 will be donated to charity. The top 3 creators will get a custom in-game cosmetic!..."
Bloons Community Discord Server Shutdown[]
In 2023, a modder that makes some of Tewtiy’s mods, KosmicDev closed his Discord server which was the largest Bloons TD 6 modding Discord server at the time. The 1330 Studios Discord Server contained mods from various creators and chat rooms for bloons players to learn about modding and play together. The server had a strict rule against hacking in public lobbies, cheating in monkey cash or supporting mods relating to that. It is not known why the server was deleted. As of now, Tewtiy has not commented about KosmicDev or the 1330 Studio modding discord server.
Jokes Mods[]
In the Video; Minions in BTD 6! which featured Tewtiy playing a mod of BTD6 using a Minion from the Despicable Me franchise as a tower. Viewers joked that that Tewtiy’s choice of mod was poor and "Tewtiy is going bananas with the mods." This was due to the fact that the aforementioned Minion tower was nothing more than a blurry PNG of said Minion that doesn’t rotate properly or have proper effects. Tewtiy laughed at the quality of the mod during the video. Although some of Tewtiy's fans don't enjoy the the comedy of the lower quality PNG mods, Tewtiy continues to also play some of the highest quality mods ever during 2024. In 2024 he played the Final Boss Story mode mod, created by DatJaneDoe and others, which is an hour long and contains custom BTD 6 music, 3D models, 2D art, a story mode many custom boss MOABs with custom mechanics.

Tewtiy has explicitly asked permission to use art in the past from people in the BTD 6 merge discord server such as this is a prominent example in The 9th Path Dartling Gunner?! with the thumbnail using artwork from that server.
On December 5, Tewtiy posted a video titled Ultimate 72 MOD Tier List in BTD 6!. Where he made a tier list of 72 mods he has used. Tewtiy has stated that he wishes he could link mods directly that modders create but he is unable to because mods can be malicious but has explained how people can find the mods he plays in the video; How to MOD Bloons TD 6!
The Challenge of New Mod Ideas[]
YouTuber, Twitter or Discord comments are sometimes left on Tewtiy's content stating that a modder stole their idea. It can be difficult to come up with truly unique ideas because of the quantity of mods that Tewtiy played or made. Tewtiy has released over 3000 videos and many of them contain Bloons TD 6 mods so you would expect some of those mods would suffer from parallel thinking where multiple people come up with the same idea without seeing each other. For example one tower the "Fire Monkey" which has been conceptualized over 10 times under names such as "Fire Monkey", "Fire Monkey (BloonAlchVerse)", "Fire Monkey BTD6", "Fire Monkey (Northiverse)", "Fireballer (BTD5)", "Fireman Monkey", "Flame Shooter", "Flamethrower", "Flamethower Monkey", "Flamethrower Monkey (BloonNuke5)", "Flamethrower Monkey (Bloons Tower Defense 8)", "Flamethrower Monkey (CrookedHorn)", "Flamethrower Monkey (Thermoxin's Version)", "Flamethrower Tower" and "Flare Monkey". The bloons Discord moderator sil3ntstorm has stated Tewtiy pays mod creators for high quality mods and Tewtiy often credits mods in his video descriptions and in the video themselves. While ideas cannot be copyrighted, people sometimes still take credit for ideas and leave mean comments if a modder uses their idea. This possession of ideas has no legal legal merit. Copyright.gov states that "copyright does not protect ideas, concepts, systems, or methods of doing something. You may express your ideas in writing or drawings and claim copyright in your description, but be aware that copyright will not protect the idea itself as revealed in your written or artistic work."[7]
