Michael B. Paulson, better known online as ThePrimeagen, is an American Twitch streamer and YouTuber/ex-crankster gangster known for his obsession with NeoVim, coconut oil and previously working at Netflix. He mainly creates videos related to software, software engineering and programming, technologies, and Vim/NeoVim related contents (though those videos are less common). He also has a second channel, ThePrimeTime(agen), where he posts clips from his streams, mainly reactions to articles and YouTube videos, and a third channel, TheVimeagen, where he posts VODs from his Twitch stream.

ThePrimeagen originally started as a Fortnite streamer on Twitch, but one day decided to stream code as a joke. Due to the positive response from his fans (which is very few at the time), he decided to switch to streaming programming instead of Fortnite.

Content[]

ThePrimeagen mainly makes videos that are generally about software engineering and programming, and don't focus too much on specific fields of programming (though he himself is primarily a full-stack web developer, his videos apply to other fields as well). For example, "how to learn a new programming language", "why i quit netflix", and "is chatgpt going to terminate my job" sort of videos. He also has a few videos related to benchmarking and performance, like the video in which he covered how some one made an algorithm over 1600x faster, and the video where you benchmarked a bunch of leftpad algorithms in JavaScript.

Twitch channel[]

Besides a YouTube channel, ThePrimeagen also has a Twitch channel of the same name. He generally streams every two days or so, and most of the time, he is just reacting to YouTube videos and articles that are sent to him by his fans. He also sometimes does streams in which he learns a new language (recently with Zig and OCaml), and builds stuff (as with the CHADStack).

Personal life[]

He is married and has 4 children. He also has ADHD.
