Kiran Dutta (Bengali: কিরণ দত্ত; born: Ishan Dutta March 7, 1995 (1995-03-07) [age 29][1]), better known online as The Bong Guy, is an Indian YouTube comedian who posts roast videos on YouTube. He is the first YouTuber from the state of West Bengal.[2]

Career[]

Being a pastime writer, after dropping out of civil engineering, Kiran approached a few producers with his scripts, but turned down offers after being asked to hand over all rights.[2] Alongside, he also posted a few videos on YouTube, which did not perform very well. He then posted music videos on his Facebook page, gaining some traction.[3]

After the widespread adoption of cheap internet and growing Indian viewers on YouTube in 2017, he moved his platform to YouTube, where his channel grew to have one lakh subscribers within just a few months.[3] In 2019, he created his vlogging channel.

Outside of YouTube, he is also an actor and musician, having worked on the indie tracks "Opekkha" and "The Lockdown Song" as well as the "The KKR Anthem" in collaboration with the Kolkata Knight Riders cricket team.

He starred in the 2022 Bengali-language film Kolkata Chalantika.[4][5]

Personal life[]

Kiran was born in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and later moved to Dhubulia in West Bengal. He moved to Kolkata to study engineering, which he quit mid-way. His father a member of the Indian Armed Forces.[3]
