Tomás Blanch Toledo † (June 13, 2009 - August 30, 2021 [aged 12]), better known online as tomiii 11, was a Chilean YouTuber best known for quickly becoming one of the fastest growing channels in the site's history in April 2021, breaking a number of YouTube records as a result.

About[]

Tomás Blanch Toledo was a 12-year-old boy who was diagnosed with brain cancer. He was commonly seen with a bandage on his right eye due to this, and he was unable to use his left arm. As a result, he had to use a one-handed keyboard. Toledo did not know what he was diagnosed with, since his parents never disclosed to him the fact that he had cancer. Despite this hardship, he remained passionate about achieving his dream of becoming a YouTuber.

History[]

Toledo created his channel on January 4, 2021. His first video, titled "video de prueba", was uploaded on March 19, 2021. His channel did not gain much traction at first, though he uploaded videos celebrating small milestones such as 10 subscribers.[1]

On April 7, 2021, Filosóraptor, a Facebook user with more than 11 million followers, made a post promoting Toledo's channel which said "it's our time to make a child happy."[citation needed] After that, several large Spanish-speaking YouTubers, such as ElrubiusOMG, Ibai, AuronPlay, TheGrefg, and Luisito Comunica, got involved and gave their own shoutouts to him.[citation needed] This caused Tomiii 11 to explode in popularity, and his channel would end up breaking several records.

Toledo continued to upload on a daily basis for a couple more days, but then slowed down by late April. He uploaded five videos in May, and only four in June. He had not been active on the channel since June 20, where he attended the Copihue de Oro award show. On July 7, Toledo's sister Sofia posted on Instagram that since his birthday, his health had begun to decline. His father then uploaded a video in July 2021 stating that he was doing fine for the time being. In August, he won the Giga Awards (an award ceremony hosted by Chilean telecommunications company WOM) in the category of Best YouTuber.

Death[]

On August 30, 2021, it was confirmed that Toledo had passed away.[2][3] Despite this, his channel continued to grow, and later surpassed 10 million subscribers in September. The channel remains active as of 2022, being run by his family/team in his memory.
