Towa Tokoyami (常闇トワ) (born: August 8, 2003 (2003-08-08) [age 22]) is a Japanese VTuber associated with Hololive, as part of its fourth generation of VTubers alongside Watame Tsunomaki, Coco Kiryu, Kanata Amane and Luna Himemori.^[1]

Content[]

She debuted on January 3, 2020. Most of her earliest videos are unavailable, though her early gaming streams of Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are.^[2] Other early gaming streams are of Minecraft, Splatoon and Dead by Daylight.^[3]^[4]^[5] Towa also dabbled in radio reporting, where she would often do Q&As with the Kin of Tokoyami.^[6]

She has played APEX Legends, Hollow Knight, Behind the Frame, Ring Fit Adventure, Payday 2, UNO, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Overwatch, Ark and Fall Guys on stream. She is exceptionally good at FPS games such as Valorant and frequently competes in APEX Legends tournaments.

Her wide vocal range makes her stand out amongst her fellow Hololive VTubers, and she has covered -Error^[7], brilliant and KING.^[8]^[9] She released her first original song Palette on February 25 and along with Kanata, she released her first original song collaboration Ussewa on April 15.^[10]^[11]

Collaborations[]

Her first collaboration with people outside of her generation was playing UNO with Natsuiro Matsuri and Akai Haato,^[12] where Towa and Haato excelled at. She once won Mio's crane game despite her laggy PC. She has also played It Takes Two, Battlefield 2042, Battlefield V, It Takes Two and Quest Rooms with Botan, the latter also featuring Pekora and Rushia. Towa, Botan and Pekora have also played Back 4 Blood, PUBG, Payday 2 and Mario Party Superstars, the latter featuring Marine^[13]. Towa and Pekora themselves have hosted a Dead by Daylight collab.

Towa has also appeared in drawing collaboration streams, des[ite her art being considered terrible.

Roboco has described Towa's voice as arousing and Choco complemneted her legs, though Towa has a crush on Mio.^[14]

Marine was featured in Towa's Draw and Guess stream, as well were Korone and Nene, and she was also in her stream of Mario Golf Super Rush that featured Botan and Lamy^[15]^[16]. Marine featured Towa's illustrator, Rurudot, in a drawing stream. Kanata and Towa have played Getting Over It, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Clubhouse 51 Games^[17]^[18]^[19]. Towa has also played Monster Hunter with Nene.

Unlike her genmates, she did not appear in Coco's AsaCoco segments, as she was a university student with a tight schedule. Coco nicknamed her "mentally challenged" because of this.

With the debut of HoloX, Towa (and Botan and Subaru^[20]) played Left 4 Dead 2 and Clubhouse 51 games with Laplus. Laplus has stated that she is a huge fan of Towa, even though Towa tends to mock and bully her. In one stream, Towa played Garctic Phone with Laplus, Noel, Marine, Okayu, Korone and Lui^[21]. She has also played Clubhouse 51 games with Koyori.

Towa is also an avid APEX Legends player, having played it with Naraka, Nun Bora, Uge And, Met Komori, Shiina, Pavolia, Ollie, Suisei and Pekora amongst others. Uruha Ichinose of Virtual eSports Project has featured Towa in various streams as well, as have fellow VSPO talents Hinano Tachibana and Noah Kurumi^[22]^[23]^[24]^[25]. rpr was a fan of Towa's singing before the two played APEX Legends together.

Design[]

Her character designer is Rurudot. Her current modeler is Jujube though her original modeler was [1]. Towa's 3D model was made by Paint.

She is 150cm tall.

Lore[]

A young devil who is visiting human society to gain experience and develop her skills. But instead of studying, she became addicted to video games! After learning about a tool for communicating with humans called "streaming," she's trying it out to help with her studies.^[26]

Partnerships[]

The Kyocera Dome Osaka stadium, on 13 August 2021, scheduled a collaboration between 12 Hololive idols including Kanata, who were to represent the SoftBank HAWKS and collaborate with six professional Japanese baseball teams from the Pacific League, two hololive members per team. They dubbed this day "Hololive day" and released exclusive merchandise.^[27]

Kuku, Haneru, Suisei and Towa were a part of Project V^[28]. In March of 2023, Botan, Lui and Towa were sponsored by Capcom to play Exoprimal.^[29]

In-jokes/memes[]

She pronounces "Thank you" as "TenQ" in English, and even the final portion of her streams where she reads Super Chat donations are dubbed,"TenQ TIME" (てんQ TIME). She has a habit of saying "OH MY GAH" as well. Her poor grasp of English has become a running joke with the Kin.
Her nicknames include Small Devil, Towa-sama, Towa Maji-Tenshi, Towa Maji-Daitenshi, Towa Chou Akuma, Towa Cute Angel and ∞/∞ETERNAL∞/∞ Devil. These various nicknames are often acronymisized when spammed into the chat.
Calling Towa an angel because Towa hates it.
When waiting for her streams to start, English speakers often comment "Towaiting" in the chat.
