―Tyler in KSM Expo event

Tyler Edmund Ahlström (born: Tyler David Montealegre; May 12, 2000 (2000-05-12) [age 25]), formerly known as BFPFilms424, PoniatorFilms, NovaCraft, and BronyFormersPrime424, is an American former YouTuber, animator, musician, and game developer who was known for developing The Return to Freddy's series, which includes all of the games within Volume 1 of the series as well as all of the games that were planned to be within Volume 2.

He's also one of the co-founders of Kriya Studios, the other being his brother, Sean.

History[]

Early Life[]

Tyler was born on May 12, 2000, in Odessa, Texas. His first gaming console was PlayStation 2 when he was 3, and the first ever games he played were from the Crash Bandicoot series, and his personal favorite, I-Ninja.

In 2003, his brother Andrew was born. The following year on November 5th, his second brother Sean was born. When he was 4, he played Bejeweled on his father's computer.

On January 2010, his father was arrested during work at city hall for smuggling and hiding cash from Mexico to Texas to Wisconsin and being a fraud. Tyler burst into tears seeing how long they were going to sentence him for; originally, it ranged from 20 to 30 years, but then it was lowered down to only 7 years.

That same year, he discovered that he liked bringing his stories and imagination to life through video games, so he stumbled upon a game-developing software, GameMaker, and he would go on to code several Mario and Smash Bros fangames.

Moving onto 2012, he came across the horror games Slender: The Eight Pages and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. He had only made one friend while he was in middle school. Both had looked forward to becoming film directors or writers. During a phone call, Tyler came out to him and talked about his sexuality. They never spoke about this ever again. Afterward this tragic interaction, he became more depressed and unhappy due to the incident in school, he tried to end himself on several occasions but never succeeded.

The Return to Freddy's[]

In September 2014, Tyler was finally ready to take game dev as a career instead of a hobby. He opened up The Games Factory 2, and he started to work on his first public experimental project, Five Nights at Freddy's 3 Fan-Made. On December 23, the game was released on Game Jolt. Later, the game page was removed from Game Jolt because he received an email from Scott Cawthon himself requesting him to remove the game from Game Jolt. On January 5th, the game page is back on Game Jolt, now called The Return to Freddy's. Later on, he began developing sequels between March and May of 2015. Most of which received mixed reception due to bugs that Tyler couldn't fix the bugs from previous games.

Tyler began working on a spin-off project with Bioninjagames called "FRANKBURT'S" in November 2015, when The Return to Freddy's 5 was still in development. Tyler secretly released the name of the project he was working on his old Twitter account a few months later, in 2016. A few days later, the game changed from a spin-off to an actual installment set in the main TRTF series. Tyler, however, gave up on the idea after being informed by his counselor and gave TannerFeline ownership and rights to the TRTF Saga.

In November 2015, around the time The Return to Freddy's 5 was still being developed, Tyler started to work on a spin-off project with Bioninjagames named "FRANKBURT'S." A few months later in 2016, Tyler announced on his old Twitter account the name of the project he was working on in cryptic code. Along with a teaser on his official website showcasing Kitty FazCat's new endoskeleton. A few days later, the game was changed from being a spin-off project to an official installment set in the main TRTF universe. However, Tyler gave up on the development after being told by his counselor and gave TannerFeline the ownership and rights of the TRTF Saga.

Tyler chose to hand TRTF over to TannerFeline and Toonster in October 2016, after his counselor advised him to stop working on it. However, they cancelled their versions of the game, and Tyler eventually chose to hand up the entire TRTF series in December 2016. Bioninja, like Toonster, decided to rewrite the lore, remove some characters, and redesign the Torture Suits. On February 6, 2017, Bioninja decided to cancel his version of TRTF5 due to the overwhelming negative response.

In 2017, Tyler announced that he was working on a new project called "The Return to Freddy's: Chapter One," a reboot of the TRTF Saga that was being led in development by Tyler and his brother, Sean. The game was first announced to the community on August 28, 2017. It was intended to be released on a closed launcher called the "OMEGA LAUNCHER"[1] that was being made by a friend of Tyler's named Jacob Rotundo.[2] The game itself was canceled in 2018 when Tyler decided to remove all of the Five Nights at Freddy's characters and assets from the game and to make the game its own unique intellectual property, The Road That Falls. The game's cancellation was first announced by Tyler to the community on July 9, 2018, on the Discord server,[3] where he announced that the game itself was intended to be a set-up for a game that was never intended to be related to The Return to Freddy's series or the Five Nights at Freddy's series at all, and the community had fallen for this.

Controversies[]

Candy the Cat[]

After the release of "Five Nights at Freddy's 3," users found out that Tyler stole the character named Candy the Cat without permission from Emil Macko, the creator of the Five Nights at Candy's series, and changed the name to Sugar the Cat.[4] Sugar was later removed for its rebranding after it received a major backlash for the original version. Tyler was contacted by Scott Cawthon, who asked to change the game's name completely to avoid confusion, and Tyler came up with the name "The Return to Freddy's."[5]

Yin Kouiu Account[]

In February 2016, Tyler posted his "last tweet" on Twitter, stating that he was giving TRTF 5 to a friend, Yin Kouiu, to provide updates on the game's development.[6] Later, Yin Kouiu announced that he had cancelled the game for important reasons and won't be releasing the game's files.[7] However, Tyler was forced by a user to confirm that Yin Kouiu was an alternate account of Tyler when he used to pretend to be someone else, and the game was never cancelled.[8]

Bioninjagames[]

On June 26, 2016, a Reddit user who goes by the name Bioninjagames made a post exposing Tyler for his lies. He could release screenshots from Tyler's DMs for proof, but Tyler deleted his Twitter account, so their DMs are gone. Bioninja also wanted to take control of TRTF and gaslit Tyler into thinking that his ex-girlfriend was his "sister," but he didn't realize that they are not siblings.[9]

On June 27, Tyler made a post on Reddit, apologizing to the community for spreading lies and creating a game set in an adult establishment, which received backlash from the community. He also stated that he planned to leave the community after TRTF 5 and FRANKBURT'S, but both games were cancelled.[10]

Twisted Sister[]

In July 2016, Tyler posted an image of Fairytale Ty holding Torture Lockjaw's head. This indicates that Tyler was attempting to distance himself from his previous OC by using his fursona.[11] However, this received backlash when users found out that Tyler used Genwyn as his profile picture, which originally came from the NSFW webcomic.[12] Tyler later responded to this by posting a rant on Facebook, which shows an image of Fairytale Ty aiming the gun at his head.[13]
