This article, VICE, covers a small amount of potentially sexually disturbing content..

Vice is a Canadian-American news channel. Originally a magazine from Montreal that began publication in 1994, it has evolved into a huge YouTube channel, owning several other channels. Its parent company, Vice Media Company LLC, has a website, broadcast news unit, a film production company, a record label, and a publishing imprint.[citation needed]

Content[]

Vice's oldest videos are about art and sports.[1][2] For a short while, they would interview pro skaters like Ray Barbee,[3] Fred Gall,[4] Tim O'Connor,[5] and Erik Ellington.[6] They would also review food and Mexican culture, though they would later launch channels specifically dedicated to those topics. However, they reached fame when they travelled all around the world to report on events that were not included in the mainstream news, such as "The World's Scariest Drug",[7] "Brazil's Biggest Ass",[8] and "UK's Scariest Debt Collector".[9] The success of these videos inspired VICE to start a series called "VICE Guide To Travel"[10] where they would tour third-world countries such as Pakistan,[11] India,[12] and Liberia;[13] and report on their hidden dangers, though they also cover countries with higher living standards such as Siberia[14] and Singapore.[15] These documentaries received critical praise. They also do pranks like "sending an attractive lookalike to my high school reunion".[16]

Other Channels[]

Since their success, VICE has launched several other channels, including the following:

VICE News[]

Vice News is dedicated to covering news in America and what the mainstream media doesn't show.[17]

Munchies[]

Munchies is the food-based branch of VICE, where they interview popular chefs and learn the history behind popular foods. They also report on how countries manage their food supplies after disasters, both natural and nuclear,[18] as well as food that is becoming extinct.[19]

VICE Life[]

Also known as Broadly, VICE Life covers sex, fashion, culture, and witchcraft from a feminist viewpoint. It is primarily for feminism and LGBT-related content, interviewing celebrities such as Azaelia Banks and Rose McGowan on their experiences in Hollywood,[20] interviewing drag kings and queens,[21] and witches from different cultures all around the globe.[22][23] They even have a season dedicated to Trixie Mattel and Katya giving advice on various subjects.[24]

VICE TV[]

Vice TV is dedicated to getting to know more of both obscure and famous people. They have interviewed celebrities like DJ Khaled[25] and obscure people like the criminal who poured acid on his wife.[26] They even try disgusting things like eating tuna sperm.[27] A lot of their content surrounds marijuana and its benefits; for example, its usage in treating PTSD.[28] Even though they have a TV channel, regulations force some clips to be cut, but they are re-uploaded on the channel.[29]

VICE en Español[]

The Spanish-speaking branch of VICE, which covers news and culture from Mexico and the rest of Latin America.[citation needed]

VICE Asia[]

The Asian Vice branch, headquartered in Singapore. Like its main channel, it uncovers the hidden horrors and hardships of living in Asian countries, like Indonesia's mass buffalo sacrifice,[30] Rohingya persecution,[31] and living in Filipino graves.[32] Sometimes they will talk about social issues like China's unmarried "leftover" women.[33] They will also investigate unique things by countries, like the Nepalese honey that makes you hallucinate.[34]

Controversy[]

VICE has generally been criticized for their drop in quality since 2016, going from high-quality documentaries to things like "Raised Without Gender".[35] They are also extremely biased and far-left, to the point they called Milo Yiannopolous an alt-righter, even though the alt-right hates him for being gay, Jewish, and having a black Muslim husband.[36] In their interview with Richard Spencer, the journalist seemed to be attracted to him.[37] However, the number one issue with VICE is that they never do research before publishing stories. Australian comedian Lewis Spears tricked them into running a story about his penis being stuck in a cage,[38] a story that was believed and talked about even by Penguinz0 and Lauren Chen.
