Watame Tsunomaki (角巻わため) (birthday: June 6 [age 4 (in sheep years)]) is a Japanese VTuber associated with Hololive, as part of its fourth generation of VTubers alongside Towa Tokoyami, Coco Kiryu, Kanata Amane and Luna Himemori.
Content[]
She debuted on December 29, 2019, and this was followed up by several chatting streams, gaming streams of Minecraft and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and short clips of her singing. She has an affinity for multiplayer games (often including the other Hololive fourth generation members) such as Splatoon and APEX Legends, with most of her earliest gaming streams being of the latter.
She has also played ARK, Clubhouse 51 games, The Radio Station, Final Fantasy 9, Alba Life Adventure, Behind the Frame, Untitled Goose Game, UnderTale, Papers, please, Fall Guys, Okaeri, Another Eden and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
On February 3, 2020 the first episode of Watame no Uta (わためのうた / Watame's Songs Corner) aired,[1], a weekday series of videos on her channel that started on February 3, 2020, with the intention of making it easier for her viewers to listen to her singing. The format of the talk show was meant to mimic popular Japanese talk shows. These would later feature a segment known as Tsunomaki Taisou (つのまき体操 / Tsunomaki Exercise), dedicated to parodying the morning exercise skits of Japanese morning shows. Her first song cover was of Melancholic - junky[2], and she has gone on to cover Kuroi Hitsuji[3] and KING - Kanaria[4].
Collaborations[]
As of 2021, she has shifted most of her music based content to gaming based content, though like her earliest gaming streams, they are multiplayer games and often involve other YouTubers such as Airani Iofifteen appearing in her Monster Hunter World videos and Noel Shirogane and Flare Shiranui appearing in her Touhou gameplays. Watame, Fubuki and Flare play a lot of games together, mainly the Monster Hunter series, but also Left 4 Dead 2, Mario Superstars 2, Cooking Simulator, The Greatest Penguin Heist of all time and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which also featured Luna, Akirose and Roboco[5].
Watame and Coco have also played Monster Hunter Rise together and Mario Party Superstars with Fubuki and Calli[6]. Calliope, Kiara and Iofi also played Ultimate Chicken Horse[7] with Watame. Her, Ina'nis and Anya have also played Phasmophobia together[8]. She has featured Aqua Minato, Fubuki Shirakami, Akai Haato, Coco Kiryu, Luna Himemori, Kotone Tenjin, Choco Yuzuki and Ran Hinokuma in her APEX Legends streams[9][10][11][12].
Due to Botan having a lion theme, Watame made a shitpost of the two[13]. The two have also produced an original song together[14]. Other VTubers she has made shitposts with include Towa, Kanata, Coco and Polka.
Watame is also an OkoKoro shipper.
With the debut of HoloX, she became enamoured with La+ and repeated her fan phrase a lot.
Laplus, Sora, Watame and Marine all held a collaboration with Japanese voice actress and singer Sachiko Kobayashi. The stream was of them learning voice acting lessons from her[15].
Design[]
She was designed by Fu-mi and modelled by keffiy.[16]
She is 151 cm.
Lore[]
Loves singing, and as she continued uploading song covers and having weekly singing streams titled "Watameh Night Fever!!," she started wanting to stand on Tokyo Budokan's stage someday.
Make sure you check out her Tsunomaki Rock Paper Scissors videos as well![17]
Other[]
- Watame has claimed to be four years old in sheep years[18]. Given that she claimed this in July of 2020, and her birthday is June and one human year is the equivalent of five sheep years[19], Watame is likely around 20 years old and born in the 1990s.

Fandom[]
Her fanbase is known as "Wata-mates" (わためいと) and members of her channel are called "Member-Sheep".
In-jokes/memes[]
- "Watame did nothing wrong" (Watame has a habit of saying "not my fault, right" in Japanese, but in English it has been translated as this due to its original meaning)
- Her voice sounds a lot like Ui-mama, to the point that the two are mistaken as each other by fellow VTubers, and a joke is that they are the same person.
- She pronounced "Kyuu-i" (the Japanese word for the number 9) as "Kiwi", so because of that chat tends to spam kiwi emojis.
- 4chan users often photoshop her head on a Watermelon and dub it the "Watamelon". Some parodies feature her as the Cocomelon logo.
- Quoting this 4chan copypasta: "A common argument by anti-watamelonists is that watamelon is merely "Watame photoshopped to a watermelon". This could not be further from the truth. First, there came Watame photoshopped onto a sheep. Conventional. Unimaginative. Content to stay within known artistic boundaries. Only on this foundation later came the true art: Watame photoshopped onto a sheep... ONTO A MELON. Radical. Innovative. Avant-garde. Will be remembered for years to come."
Personal Life[]
Watame's parents divorced when she was very young, and she was raised by her mother and grandmother because her father stated he would rather leave her in an orphanage than care for her. Watame stated that one of the reasons she joined hololive was to buy her mother a house.[22]
