Isaiah Mark Nichols[1] (born: June 2, 1999 (1999-06-02) [age 26]), better known online as Wendigoon, is an American YouTuber known for his horror-, conspiracy theory-, and true crime-themed videos. He is perhaps best known for his "iceberg explained" videos, in which he explains subscriber-created "iceberg diagrams" of various topics.

Career[]

Wendigoon's channel was created on July 19th, 2019, and his first video was uploaded on May 7th, 2020, named "The Warden of the Woods" (now taken down), which covered the Wendigo from Native American mythology. He then made a tier list of gun-oriented YouTubers as well as a gameplay video of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

His channel first started with analyses of movies such as The Lighthouse and The Devil All The Time. His first video covering a horror-related topic was an analysis of the analog horror series/ARG LOCAL58TV. Soon after, he launched a Patreon. On October 25th, 2020, Wendigoon began a new series entitled "Sunday Studies" which summarizes Christian biblical stories.

In March 2021 he reached 100,000 subscribers, which he celebrated with a Q&A.

Iceberg Explained Series[]

Wendigoon's iceberg videos are his most popular videos and can be credited for his massive rise in popularity. He is most known for his 22-part Conspiracy Theory Iceberg Explained series, the first of which was uploaded on November 20th, 2020. A majority of his uploads would cover icebergs mainly focusing on conspiracy theories, but there are stand-alone icebergs covering Star Wars and SCPs.

Wendigoon has also uploaded 2 sample episodes of Tree Talk, his Patreon-exclusive podcast. Wendigoon has also uploaded an analysis of The Black Parade, a My Chemical Romance album. Wendigoon has playlists named "Whiteboard" and "Deeper Dive" which contain specific rundowns of conspiracy and true crime topics. Wendigoon has uploaded videos of himself playing horror and non-horror video games. He stopped uploading gameplay videos and has since been moved to his second channel, Wendigames.

Following consideration, Wendigoon decided to create a gaming channel as he felt that gaming content wouldn't fit the nature and theme of his videos, His first gameplay video was of the horror game Little Nightmares. He would later rename the channel from Wendigames to Wendigang.

Personal life[]

Isaiah Mark Nichols was born in Kentucky on June 2, 1999 and resides in Tennessee.[4] Growing up in the Appalachia region, his parents would tell him stories about mountain monsters to scare him into staying indoors. Whenever he went outside with his father, he would learn about the nature around him and grew up with a deep appreciation for the natural world. Aside from YouTube, he is a full-time biology student and previously a Sunday School teacher. Wendigoon mentioned he's of Cherokee descent from his grandfather's side.[5]

He was inspired by other YouTubers like Markiplier and I Hate Everything to begin his YouTube journey. On Twitter he has stated that he was also inspired by Shoe0nHead, Turkey Tom, J aubrey, Internet Historian, Mutahar, Whang! and The Right Opinion and expressed desire to collaborate with them.[6]

The name for his YouTube channel comes from the Wendigo, which represents his love, fear and respect for nature, as well as his propensity towards oral storytelling. He is a Christian and married to Kayla Garret.[7][8]

He is 6'1" in height.[9]
