YouTube Music is a free music streaming service developed by YouTube. It gives people a tailored interface for music streaming which allows them to browse through songs and music videos on YouTube based on genres, playlists, and recommendations. It launched on November 12, 2015. The service is currently available in 73 countries.
YouTube Music was revealed in October 2015 alongside YouTube Red (now YouTube Premium) which covers YouTube Music in it's subscription. On May 17, 2018 the interface was changed which included a new web-based desktop player and redesigned mobile app, more dynamic recommendations based on various factors, and use of Google artificial intelligence technology to search songs based on lyrics and descriptions. In September 2019, Google Play Music was replaced by YouTube Music on newer Android devices.
What it features
The service includes many of the releases from mainstream artists as well as any videos categorized as music on YouTube itself. Subscribers to YouTube Premium are also given the ability to view music videos offline, watch videos ad free, and background playback with audio only.
