The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event for athletes between 15 and 18 years old,[1] organized by the International Olympic Committee. The Olympic Winter Games, held in reverse order, are held every four years in staggered summer and winter events, similar to the current Olympic Games format. The first summer version took place in Singapore from August 14 to 26, 2010, and the first winter version took place in Innsbruck, Austria from January 13 to 22, 2012.
Johann Rosenzopf from Austria introduced the idea of a youth version of the Olympic Games in 1998, which was approved by IOC members at the 119th session in Guatemala City on July 6, 2007.
